Not gonna happen with a cat. You need cat fencing, or an invisable fence for cats, which is expensive. Unless you let her out on a leash, which I don't recommend with a cat or construct some sort of outside fenced in sanctuary there is no way to train a cat to stay in your yard without additonal help from some sort of fence.

I guess if you already have a cat than knows how to do this, just do what you did with her. True some cats just prefer to stay close to home..but you can't just tell this by looking at the cat. Not sure how to just say "stay in the yard." You may have such a large yard that the cats dont want to venture any further, specially if its a ranch.
My cats back home roamed the entire neighborhood...which was huge...some never left the yard. I didn't teach them anything..must depend on the cat. The ones that roamed were both spayed females....
Oh yeah..I didn't introduce my cats to the outside until 6 months of age...

More or less you don't teach a cat boundaries. However, depending on the size of your yard area you could try the following. Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the perimeter of the yard. This is actually an old gardeners trick to keep cats out of the garden and prevent them from using it as a litter box.

we just got a kitten - he is about 4 months now, we live on 10 acres in the middle of a forest with coyotes eyc so we were a little concerned.
you have to keep them in for a little while to get used to you, then start letting them out a little each day.
get some tuna, or something really tasty and feed your cat outside on your porch only, not inside, in the same place all the time and at the same time, the kitten will catch on that the good stuff is on that porch and come back for it.
2 months is probably a little young to be outside in the night, they dont have much protection against predators at that age.
we are going to start putting our out now he is almost full size

you should take her to the yard for her to explore before you let her live in the outdoors. keep an eye on her while shes exploring. dont take her only once, take her a few times. once she knows the yard she wont run away. i have a cat which has been a outdoors cat for nine years. and he has never run away. once a cat gets use to living in the outdoors, hell know where he belongs. but i think your kitten is too young to start living outdoors. please wait until she is four or five months old.

I don't know for sure, cats are hard to train. There is a spray that keeps pets away from things, so you can probably put it around your fence. But I don't know if it comes off after a while. Maybe you could look into it, because I don't know much about it myself.

You should keep her inside until she's a little bigger because she simply cannot fend for herself right now. You could let her out progressively once she's about 7 or 8 lbs or in about 5 or 6 months.

SHe'll stray if you are letting her out already. Keep her indoors for the next few months, the more you do that the more she will be bonded to the house.

I'm not sure what a "2 month year old kitten" is. Do you mean a two month old kitten - eight weeks? And you're going to keep it OUTSIDE? Are you nuts??? http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=indoorsoroutdoors

Until a cat is about a year old, it will wander just about everywhere.
