Nerves.
I got a new 3 y.o. mastiff a couple weeks ago and she is still nervous; doesn't eat a lot. It's hard for a dog to be dumped and then in a new home and spayed and have to live with a crazy black lab.

Well when we adopted our 7 year old dog 3 months ago, she would not eat at all at the start. When we saw her in the pound, her bowl was completely full and she did not take any treats. We brought her home and gave her some good quality dry food and she ate a bit of it and threw it up later in the day. I took her to the vet and she was a bit underweight and had bad kennel cough so the vet told me to either put very lukewarm water in the dry food to enhance the flavour or to try and put a bit of gravy (unsalted) on the food. Guess what, it worked straight away. After three months, she has put on 1.5 kilos and is now staying at her ideal weight and wipes her bowl clean every single day. Be patient. When you are sad and feel lost, you haven't got much appetite either so the same is happening for your dog. Forget to go by the book rules at the start. Spoil her with really nice food at the start (I used to give my dog pieces of sirloin steak but anything she lives would be great) so she starts trusting you and will notice that her new house is great and she can relax and concentrate on enjoying her food. Good luck and have fun with your new friend.

This is very normal. Some dogs don't eat when they first go to a new home because they are nervous. Some are hesitant to eat a new food.
If you do not have a way to find out what kind of food she was on before, you may have to experiment to find out what kind of food she likes. For Danes, it is important that the food you feed them is less that 22% protein, and that you feed small portions a few times a day, to prevent bloat.
I would go to your local pet store or pet food supplier and ask for samples of different brands. Most stores have small sample bags that they are willing to either give to you or sell to you for a dollar or two. She will let you know which ones she likes :)

Pom4life is physically powerful. Beneful is unfavourable food! stumble on a puppy save that incorporates top classification food and then get it on your dogs. it is going to cost you much less via fact you feed the dogs much less via fact it does not have all of the fillers, corn, soy, and different risky by way of products in it. i'd advise Canidae it fee tremendously much comparable to 3 of the different meals and your dogs would be lots greater ideal off for it too. upload: FYI great Dane's are no longer a brilliant breed dogs. they are seen a great breed dogs! A 40 pound website is approximately 38 money.

This age will take awhile to adjust to a new home and you may try can food mixed with dry food or ask the person you got it from what he was eating don't let him go to long with out eating(over 48 hours)cause he is going through stress as it is and you did not say if he is drinking water if not I would go ahead and call your vet

She is likely adjusting to her new home. She should start eating within a day or two. Make sure to feed her a good quality food such as Canidae All Life Stages, Wellness, Chicken Soup for the Dog Love's Soul either large breed adult or regualr adult just to name a few. Also feed her twice per day.
*****the low protein level is for puppies NOT for adult Danes. Food up to 24% protein is fine for puppies*****
