My cat sometimes goes outside for a little while and he loves going outside. He ran about the door about 5 hours ago and I can't find him. I looked everywhere for him. He's spaded and has all his shots btw. The longest my cat had been out for is overnight. What should I do?

Don't worry too much..., I have four Cats and one of them, her name is Sophie, she's the "smallest". She weighs in a whopping 6 pounds ! She's also the the one that I do not see for DAYS sometimes! She's the most foroucios one of all Four..., she brings in everything like, Rat's, Squirls, Dragonflies and an ocassional 5 foot Black Garden Snake!

I'm just trying to ease your mind that even the smallest Kitty is VERY ABLE to be outside for extended Periods of time!

The LONGEST Sophie was out was 2 1/2 WEEKS ! I love my Cats, but "I" gave her UP FOR DEAD ! So I went to the Local Shelter to get a new one..., and POOF ! There she is ! I came back in one night to get the Flag back inside and I almost closed the Door behind me as she DARTS BETWEEN my Legs and through the House Door !

That little Devil was gone for 2.5 Weeks and now she just parades back as if NOTHING Happened ! As far as SHE was concerned she was on a 2.5 Week Mission, TO EXPLORE STRANGE NEW WORLDS...TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO CAT HAS GONE BEFORE !!! (....StarTrek - Theme !...)

After that Episode I installed Cat-Doors into the Garage Door and also the Inside Garage Door leading into the House, so my cats can get in and out the way THEY PLEASE !

Also it is for their Safety...when no one's at home and there would be a Fire; the cats would have an ESCAPE ROUTE out of the House !

Again, don't worry...! A CAT can take care of themselfs ! Just check the Doors occasionally!

By the Way...ALL my Cats are spayed/neutered, NEVER DECLAWED, and all of them are CHIPED...just in Case !

Put out a bowl of his favorite food and hope he comes back. 5 hours is not all that long for a cat; they're insanely independent. If you haven't found him by tomorrow, try the animal shelter. Someone may have found him and turned him. This would be a good reason to use a collar with name tag if you find him.

I'm sooooo sorry.

First off, look EVERYWHERE around your neighborhood and in your house. Wait as long as you can without freaking out.

Put flyers all over the place... in mailboxes, on street signs.... put a reward too

For every hour he's been out, put fliers one more mile away from your house.

1 hour missing- 1 mile around your house
2hrs- 2miles
3-3
4-4
5-5
etc...

Put an ad in the paper and inform all your neighbors. You'll find him!

He will come back, mine did. Cat's know where their homes are and he will come back to it...But you have to be on the lookout for him because he will probably come to the door, but wont stick around that long, especially if something surprises him. So, just look out for him.

you should wait for another day if he/she doesnt come home start putting up posters. if your cat got the chip that has all the info, then whoever found it will bring it to the humane society and they will call you. if not then it must have a collar then someone will bring it back to you. if not then youre on youre own!

Put some of his cat food by the door. He's gotta get hungry soon.

cat should stay indoor, don't matter he love outdoor. you should have cage which they sell at pet mart, which they can run around. you know that cat lives alot longer if they stay indoor, free not get chance to hit by car, fight with another cats, person like to pick up or maybe be shoot the cat. hey you never know. I wouldn't worry about your cat, just place his food, maybe your clothes to smell your scent, and keep it on it in case he'll come back.

open a few cans of cat food & set them around your yard...cats smell is alot more sensitive then ours so even if hes wondered off the smell should attract him back
