MOST products of this type are tested on animals prior to being sold for human consumption- it's no big deal. All cosmetics are tested this way, and so are virtually all medicines and drugs, including vaccines which prevent disease. If you are a woman and you take oral contraceptives, you are using an animal tested product. If you have diabetes and need insulin shots to live, then you are using a product which was not only tested on animals, it was discovered through research on them- in this case, on diabetic DOGS !! Flu shots are made from serum grown in chicken eggs, and horses are the source of both the hormone replacement drug Premarin and tetanus vaccines and antitoxin. Cats have been used to study the AIDS virus, because they get a disease which produces similar symptoms to it- and the end result of that research has been the development of a vaccine which prevents the condition. Until recently, insulin was made from serum taken from cows, and then later from hogs. This list goes on and on.
Listen, for all the fanaticism that groups like PETA put out, the simple truth is this: It is impossible to LIVE on this planet without our animal friends. Much of the food we eat comes from animals, as do many of the medicines and drugs which we as a race depend on to keep ourselves healthy and alive. I have no quarrel with the LEGITIMATE research and testing of new drugs and medicines on animals, which I know from personal experience is done in a humane manner. Cruelty of any type is an anathema to most of the researchers I know- and I have relatives who do testing of new treatments for things like cancer, so I know what I am talking about here.
What I take issue with, and do not support, are the private groups who make their money by doing things like spraying hairspray into a rabbit's eyes to see what the effects will be on the animal. THAT is CRUELTY of the most monstrous sort, and I will never support people who engage in such behavior. If one of the companies or groups in question turns out to be the Mars candy company, I may rethink my position on supporting them or consuming their products as well. Enough said.

20 lady student, I additionally paintings at Petsmart area time with the animals sorting out for medicine/treatments is fantastic with me, splendor sorting out could be stopped. Yep, although no longer an excellent purchase. i comprehend they try animals with soaps, meals (i think of), chemical components, etc... No, i don't have faith the international would be a greater ideal place without animal sorting out. If human beings end sorting out on animals for medicine then all of the destiny got here upon treatments, vaccines, remedies, etc are no longer got here upon. it is applicable to the two animals and people. If human beings end sorting out on animals for cosmetics that fantastic by way of me yet i do no longer think of it would make the international greater ideal. there'll nevertheless be cruelty to animals. No(!), PETA does no longer something sturdy for animals. maximum of their "investigative" movies are pretend or are particularly exaggerated. additionally PETA kills maximum folk of the animals they obtain (over ninety 5%). in addition they use concern, blackmail and crimes to get their way. PETA additionally supply money to ELF (Earth Liberation front) that's a eco- terrorist group. Breaking and entering into/ crime is in no way ok, why they have not been stopped no theory. maximum different "end animal sorting out" communities are purely as radical. the only group I help for scuffling with all animal cruelty is the ASPCA.

Wow, it is amazing to listen to people who get so worked up over "animal testing." Let me ask you this, do you really want to be the first living thing exposed to a new chemical, or would you rather millions of people die because we can't test anything to develop new life-saving chemicals and especially medications?

If you don't like the idea, don't buy it. Before you zero in on another candy bar, check to see who makes it. Might be the same company.
