My kitten Willie escaped and was gone all night. Allie (my avatar) missed him and cried and hunted him-they've been together since 5 weeks old. They always play with straws so she got one in her mouth and was running through the house meowing for him to come chase her. It was so sad and sweet! She was really happy the next morning when he came home! Has your cat done that before?

My Maine Coons were together for 15/16 years.
Once when Dickens (who looked just like your Allie) was gone for 2 days, Brandy sat at the door and waited for him and didn't eat.
When he nonchalantly sauntered in finally, she was all over him. They sat and bathed each other the whole day.
Sad and cute, yes. Our little darlings without whom we could not live!!

That is really cute and sad at the same time.

When my kittens went to get spayed, my cat was soooo happy because she had all the attention again!! LOL.

But all the cats like to play with straws, and my big cat fetches. So the other morning I woke up to the big cat sitting next to my head meowing. I looked down and there was a straw there, which she wanted me to throw for her to fetch!! It was so cute. Also, when I moved I found 15 straws while cleaning under my refrigerator!! If I'm drinking from a straw and walk away, chances are when I come back the straw will be gone. Cats are crazy!!

That's cute. : ) I used to have sort of a "special" cat named Daisy. (She was kicked in the head by some mean boys as a kitten, and a police officer found her and gave her to me) She had lived with my other cat, Squeaker, for 5 years, and he got outside one day. When I found him and let him back in the house, she acted as if she had never seen him before. he was only outside for like an hour. She hissed, growled, spat at him and fought him for 2 weeks before she accepted him. I still don't think she really knew it was the same cat she had lived with before!

sadly cute. bittersweet. my cat used to fetch the craft type pipe cleaners. he would fetch 3 or 4 times then bury it in his food dish.ps. if willie is going to make a habit of escaping make sure he? is spayed.and safe- there are a lot of dangers for outdoor cats(dogs, cars, chemicals, )

that actually does happen to me. the bigger cat in my avatar gets out all the time(he knows how to open doors) and our other cat crys for him till he comes home. now we have another cat thats my daughters and when she goes outside sometimes we have to call her back in after 10 min. cuz her cat will go from window to window looking for her and crying for her.the other cat in my pic is named willie also! :)

How about Option #3: Normal behavior for cats.

Thus being normal behavior, QED, it is cute.
