I don't believe that Hartz is a good product. First you need to buy from your Vet or local pet superstore, Advantix, that will keep fleas off your dog. Then I would ask your Vet about something to spray your carpets. The Advantix also keeps the fleas from reproducing and re-infesting your home. The fleas actually live in your house not on your dog. They jumped on an animal to feed, then off to lay eggs and mate and the cycle keeps going. You need to stop the cycle.

Hartz doesn't work. But you know that now. Their products have also caused many deaths, mostly the spot-on type, so please don't support this company by buying any of their products.
Please get a proper flea treatment from a vets. Frontline is not too expensive at all, and it actually works, which is nice. It does not smell of anything. Frontline Plus also kills the flea eggs and larvae, so it stops the environment becoming infested - if there are already fleas in the house however, you will need to spray. Again, get something from a vets. Flea products that are available in stores do not work - stores aren't licensed to sell the appropriate drugs.
Please also get your dog spayed! Apart from the fact that putting her in the garden puts her at risk fro marauding dogs looking for a mate, you're also putting her at the very real risk of developing a mammary tumour or pyometra when older, both of which are potentially fatal - so for her own health, spay her!

First of all, switch to a better tick and flea medicine like Frontline Plus. Frontline may be expensive, but trust me, it works. My dog is a tick magnet, but when I use Frontline I find them dead on his blankets and small rather than full of blood and in his skin. It works just as well on fleas, it took away his small problem too. Once you have him on the medication, vacuum and wash out hot spots like his bed or the carpet to remove any eggs. It may take a little while and a few washes, but you should be able to get the problem under control.

Hartz does NOT work! Try Frontline Plus or Advantage Plus...I know...expencive! Try ebay...I have found them for around $10...compare that to the Vets price of around $50-$60...sometimes more.
Also for your house use foggers. Make sure you repeat after 10 days! They will come back if you don't!
Spray them all around the house before you set them down. Under beds, couch, curtains....etc. Make sure you do it fast though.
You will spent about $12 on the foggers each time (I use one box of Raid, and one box of Hot Shot)...it is much better than wasting money on things that do not work. But seriously get the frontline off of ebay! Not the vet!
Here is a link to one person that I bought from...it worked for cheap!

Try getting Frontline Plus. It absorbs into the oils into the skin so everytime that you wash him/her it will still work. It's the best out of all flea, tick, and egg removers.

Did you try Frontline or Advantage on your dog? I don't think using any brands which you can buy at the supermarket or Walmart is good. Also, your female is in heat and you leave her outside. If you don't want males to come into your yard and breed her, please have her spayed. You cannot just getting tired of cleaning her bloody spots and leave her outside. You can get her some dog panties for females when they are in heat. The best thing to do is to spay her.

Hartz is not a good brand. Try Biospot. Or Capstar. Or, talk to your vet. They usually have advantage or Frontline.

Hartz is the worse. You have an infestation and need to call a professional bug killer.
