2 males or a male and a female (all fixed, of course) are your best bet. 2 females sometime act "catty" towards each other. I've always mixed mine up and had good results. Cats are weird though, and you never really know-if you get the right 2 females together they might bond well. Don't be disappointed if it's not love at first sight with any pairing-they'll have to work out a relationship. Usually there's hissing and slapping for a couple of weeks at first.

Yes, I think it's best to get one of each. One of my friends has 2 females who hate each other and another friend has 2 males who hate each other. Most of the time people who have 1 of each gender have more peace and harmony. I had a male cat first then got a female and they get along fine. Lots of hissing and spitting at first, but that settled down within 2 weeks. And yes, BOTH must be fixed. It's the only way to stop any funny behaviour and besides, it's better for their health.

Hi
yes i was told that my an animals shelter. I think it has something to do with being more of a threat if it's the same sex.
So yes getting a little boy and have him neutered, to stop him trying to mate and spraying etc.

Definitely get a male. We had two female kittens, but as soon as they reached adulthood they started to hate each other, hissing and not allowing each other to eat. We had to give one away :(

Get a boy, and get them both fixed. It is healthier for them in the long run, and we don't need more kitties.
