I wanted a cat ,so I looked in the newspaper and found someone giving a two year old cat away cause thier parent who owned the cat had died, the woman told me that he was very shy he was living with another male whom is his brother and a female cat whom was a couple years older. She told me the two males picked on the female alot , well anyway I bring the cat home and it continues to hide in my room under my reclyning chair and at around four and five in the morning it begins to meow or cry or what ever for about a hour , but it won't come out to eat or drink water , what I want to know is , is this cat going to get over it or just die from fright or loneliness or what? and what can I do?

I have a pair of baby red ear sliders, they play all day and eat well. I bought a feeding suppliment to help them want to eat. They eat almost anything you puty in the ater. They seem to be hungry all the time. I saw somebody say they are beggers and I know mine sure are. But my main question is I have heard turtles are loners. When I bought my babies earlier this month, they have been together ever since birth they do everything together they even bask together. Should I worry that my turtles go against the grain and get along well and play together and bask together?

Love her to death, but she meows and mewls and cries and murmurs all the effing time! It drives me crazy, and I've tried to train her not to, but she doesn't seem to get it. I got her from a shelter and she's super skiddish, so I don't think she understands that I don't want her to stay away from me, I just want her to be quiet? : [

everything is the same. Her food. Obviously her water, and thats all she drinks. This has been going on for about a month or two now. She goes on spurts, sometimes she'll go a whole week with out puking, and if she does its only like a little bit. Other times she'll get sick 3 or 4 times a day. i know i should take her to the vet, but i don't exactly have the money, so if anyone could give me ideas or anything?

My mom finally said she would get us a dog, and she said that a Shelty would be good for us, but are they easy to house break and are they loyal and friendly?

I'm moving to Guam, and my mom says that I can get a new puppy! Just, don't know which one to get. I want the cheapest and not so hard to handle with type. Here are my choices. A Maltese, Bichon Frise, Chiauaua, Minutre Doxen, Pug, or a Sheetzu. Thanks for your help!

... my dog is pregnant and the "asker" happens to be a brand new profile, barely asking 1 or 2 questions?

Does anyone else think these are just a bunch of trolls running thru the dog section to irritate people?

In just the past few days I have seen quite a flood of this type of question from "new" users. I find it hard to believe most of it is legitimate and the details are either rather odd, or non existent.

ph. 6.4. kh zero. nitrate 100 and nitrite one.
what do i need to correct this?
i have started doing 25 water change per week and cut back on the feeding (goldfish) 20 gall. tank . cleaned the filter out including the impeller. some of my fish are between ten and fifteen years old. i use conditioned tap water at same temperature as tank water. and feed dried flake, pellet, live bloodworm, peas, live daphnia now and again, and frozen bloodworm. do i need to add calcium carbonate ? one of my fish was sitting on the bottom this morning with fins clamped, but now had made a miraculous recovery. think from the answers i got on here, it was constipation. thank you. and to all those other answers i received this morning.

they were born about 4-5 weeks ago well they are taking a few shaky steps. well anyways my five year old tripped on a toy car and landed on one of the poor little guys. he does not seem to be moving one of his paws, he won't pull out his nails in that same paw and it feels lighter than the other one. he also meows loudly when i try to move it. He does not cry alot but he is not nursing well either because he can't fight back when one of the other kittens pushes him away from mom. I don't know what to do, money is alittle tight around here and i wasn't intending on keeping the little guys. what should i do, is he too young to separate from mom? but i don't want him to suffer here. Oh and yes we spayed mom that was the first thing we did.

I started cycling my tank 2weeks and four days ago. I used a product called ammonia lock when i had my first ammonia spike. Ever since then my ammonia readings have been off the charts. Hence it reads the neutralized ammonia. In my 2nd week i woke up and my tank was all cloudy ( benificial bacteria) i went to the pet store and the guy thought i had too many fish. At the time i didnt know what the cloudiness was. He talked me into getting an extra filter but i couldnt fit another one so i just bought a bigger one. when really i had too many fish so i got rid of some of them. So after this i was afraid my tank would start to cycle again cuz i replaced the filter 2 weeks into cycling. I had benificial bacteria floating in the tank so i figured it would be ok it would just slow it down. still wasnt a good idea. i had soaring ammonia and soaring nitrites. i test 2 days later and have soaring ammonia and 40 nitrates and no nitrite! how can i tell what the ammonia really is?

We're moving 1700 miles and have 2 dogs and 5 cats. We will have to stay in hotels for two nights - how do we find hotels that will accept them? Motel 6 advertises that they are pet-friendly, but say they only allow 1 pet per room. We plan on getting two rooms, one for the cats and one for the dogs. Any advice or experience is appreciated.

Help everyone who know's something about this.
My dog went into heat and we tried to breed her with our male although he was about twice her size and everytime he tried to breed he would slide down to her back legs. We never saw you know what go you know where so we figured he was just too big and breeding wouldn't happen.
after a few weeks we noticed her belly getting slightly bigger and her teets swelling. It has been 2 1/2 months and she is getting huge and just started eating a ton of food but still no puppies.. I don't know what to think. We moved in the middle of her pregnancy. Does stress play a role in pregnancy times. I could of been off on her due date but not by much because the male dog was gone right after her heat which ended the end of June.
Please help!
thanks

He is allergic to poultry, potatoes, soy, and grasses. I have had every test known to vets run on him and cannot control the scratching except with steroid pills which I hate to give him very frequently. I have tried Atopica as well and it helps some but is very expensive. He is on Purina HA dog food and has no snacks others than those without the ingrediants he is allergic to. I would really like to know if any of you have had a similar experience and have found a remedy that is safe.

My room mates brother is visiting and my cat keeps hissing at him everytime he comes in the door. My cat is sort of anti social, he doesnt like to deal with guests but he is never this mean to them. He usually just goes somewhere and goes to sleep. And if he doesnt like you, you usually only have to feed him to get on his good side but my roommates brother has tried that the cat is steal mean to him. Like last night, my cat went into the guest room and took my roommates brothers shorts down stairs under a pillow on the couch. We didnt see him do this but when we were looking for the shorts he sat on top the pillow the whole time like he was guarding it. He keeps stealing his socks. Yesterday, he left his toy mouse, that looks fairly real, in the bed that my roommate's bro is using. His behavior has been completely unacceptable and I dont know what to do. I dont even know why he is doing it.

the vet said it is a cross between a lab and pit bull. It is only about 10 weeks old and it looks more and more like a pit. It is the sweetest dog and my nephew is doing a great job with training and socializing the puppy. I am so afraid with all the news about pit bulls turning bad that this dog has the potential to be like some of the pitbulls you here about on the news. His youngest brother is 14, so no little ones in house. Would you keep this dog or be on the safe side? He is a very nice dog.

What could be happening to them? They seem to fit fine (I buy the safe-cat collars) and I don't think they could slip over his head easily. He is outside about half of the day and the rest of the time, he stays inside or lays on the porch (we live in a cul-de-sac with little traffic and a nice woodland behind the house) Do you think my neighbors could have something to do with it?

I am looking for a dog trainer who can help me better understand my two ADULT pitbull mix dogs. I am a VERY responsible pitbull owner, and would like to learn about them more as I grow with the trainer. I have had one of them for over a year. He is is three. I have had the other since May 2007. She is almost two. I adopted BOTH of them from the Humane Society. I am trying to master the walk and teach them basic obediance. Also, I would love for them to learn manners around other dogs. BOTH ARE NEUTERED/SPAYED.
The female is a lot more difficult to walk. The male does VERY well with the gentle lead.

The reason I ask is I have 4 dogs, but my Lab and American bulldog will whimper/whoop and kick in their sleep. My mini schnauzer has howled in her sleep once as well. I wake them up and pet them, but are they having nightmares or talking in their sleep? Is this normal?
