We have a 10 year old chubby indoor cat that is declawed and my wife and daughter want to get a ferret. Will the ferret go after, and possible hurt or kill our cat?

I want to breed my male beagle but he won't go near any female beagles he's only interested in other male dogs. I hear that there are boot camps for gay people to get them to turn, what about dogs?

By the way, he's a bottom.

I have a new tank, and I'm in the process of cycling it at the moment. I'm adding food to the tank (without fish) to help it along.

Can anyone run through what to expect? Like where the spikes should be, what should rise first, etc? I'll be testing everyday, so I just want to make sure it's all on track. At the moment, I have only two sets of test results but here they are:

Day 1 - pH 9.0, ammonia 0.0, nitrite 0.0 and nitrate 0.0
Day 3 - pH 8.5, ammonia 0.4, nitrite 0.25, and nitrate 12.5.

(Yeah I know my pH's are ridiculous, I've tested my tap water and it gives the same readings, I'm going to have it tested at my local shop to check it's not my test but I'm sorting that out :) )

As much info as possible would be great!

I remember although i had good cats in the past, they sometimes went up on tables, and in areas i didnt want them to go. I now have an 18 month old, who loves cats and is around kittens and cats at my mother in law's home. She has alot of respect for them. I have two yorkie puppies that have been trained to stay our of her room at night, to avoid loud ruckas and mischeif that might wake her. So door open, they do not enter. I watched my old roommates kitten for the first 6 months of her life, during which time i couldnt train her to stay out. Mid- of night she would claw at the wall, knock things down, chew up bottle nipples and binkys, make alot of noise. I really dont want to shut my baby's door at night..I dont mind if the kitten roams in but how do i train them from the begining "not" to jump into the crib, not to jump on her dresser and shelves and NOT to claw at walls.

these r the dogs that u r afraid of. these r the innocent lives that were taken. these r the dogs that no one is willing to give a chance. the only crime they ever commited was loving their owners. so i just want to know. what do u think of the breed after u watch this video. look at what us humans do to them. they trust us. they love us. they obey us. and yet some stupid people dont give that back in return. here u go.

I've already talked to the vet about this. I'm just wondering if any of you have dealt with this. I've had 4 other dogs and they have never had problems with the rabies shot. Details- Took our 4 mo old puppy on the 11th to get her last set of shots which included the rabies shot. She was fine. Wednesday, the 19th me and my husband found a lump on her. It doesn't hurt her, we just wanted to get it checked out.So yesterday, I took her to the vet. They said it was a bad reaction from the rabies shot. To put heat compress on her and such. They said not every dog has problems and some lumps pop up at different times and stay for different times. Of course, they said if it changed at all, to come back. Like I said, this is the first dog I've had that had a reaction to the shot. What are your experiences with this?

I have a 90 gallon tank. Here is my current filter setup:

Emperor 400, converted to all bio filtration using 1.5 liters of matrix bio media, a fistfull of pillow stuffing as pre-filter, and 2 air stones under the matrix.

Magnum 350 Canster, with 2/3 matrix and 1/3 carbon in a media cage, wrapped up with pure-flo 50 micron cloth, a standard rite-size pad, and then surrounded with pillow stuffing.

2 large sponge filters (the glass tube / blue sponge kind) hooked up to an air pump.

My current setup is great for bio filtration, but I'm not getting enough particle matter out of the tank. I can see thousands of little particles floating around in the water.

I'd like to switch to the paper filter for the magnum, but I bet there will not be enough bio filtration.

I was considering buying a used magnum hot 250 with a paper filter in it.

Any suggestions for diatom / paper filters / solutions to reduce particle matter in the tank?

For those of you who've been following my kitty/kidney saga, it turns out that my cat tested the same levels for blood and urine when I got a second opinion. Dr. Badfield left out the fact that it could possibly be a bladder infection instead of a problem with the kidneys. This second vet charged me $60 when Badfield charged me $250 for the same tests. They also lied repeatedly on the phone about there being no office charge ($34.95) for a dental appointment and I have this on tape. Is there any way I can get my money back or can I report them to someone?

I discovered a few fleas on my cats. They hate baths so I am thinking of getting some advance or something along those lines we can both spare our sanity and avoid a bath. I also noticed some fleas in the house. I would like to get rid of them without pesticides which can harm my cats. I cant bomb the house because I have no where to put my cats or myself while the house is being bombed. the problem isnt severe but I want to get the fleas gone. Is their some natural way to do this without chemicals? Someone told me that all cats have fleas but I dont believe that to be true but then again I dont know. I imagine if they are outdoor cats it is possible but mine are indoor cats. I think the problem started when i brought in a throw rug from my front porch because that seems to be where most of the probelm was so I threw it out. my cats are smart though, they are avoiding the floor. Instead they are hanging out on my shelf, the computer desk and the fridge. Smart kitties!!

Okay, so I have a miniature schnauzer, for those of you who have them, you know they are very vocal and opinionated dogs. His name is Maverick and when I am home he is very well behaved, aside from having seperation anxiety (he loves his mama)...I also have a cocker spaniel, but nothing seems to bother her...anyway we have a neighbor who has reported us for having them off the leash in the front yard (we live in an apartment) but they are used to having a backyard and have difficulty pottying when leashed. They do not bother people, approach other dogs or anything of the sort...there are also several other residents around us who have dogs that they leave off the leash, but she chose to report me. Anyway, no I come home and she had put a post-it on my door that says, "Invest in a shock-collar, your dogs are barking for hours when you are gone"...now this is a gross exageration. Maverick barks when he sees other dogs outside, but otherwise he never barks...

I recently saw a dog at the local animal shelter and his information simply said terrier. He resembles very much a border terrier (shorter hair, wiry) but he is much larger and solid gray except for his white 'beard'. What do you think he could be?

Is he checking to see if everyone is accounted for, or is he scouting territories? Or what? What is he doing? What are possibilities of things he may be doing?

She's due around the end of this month. I've never had a pregnant cat before, although I have worked with kittens... I just don't know what to do for her. Is there anything I should/shouldn't do? Also, how do I know when she's going into labor? And if she ends up giving birth in the garage (and if I'm away from the house) will the kittens wander off or stay at the place of birth? The reason I ask is that our garage is quite messy right now and there's a lot of dangerous areas. Please advise.

My daughter's trainer has suggested we buy a harbridge to help build up her horse's back muscle line by bringing his rear end up underneath him more. I can only find them for sale via the Internet in UK. Does anybody know anyplace in the US that sells them? Or an alternative piece of equipment that can accomplish the same purpose?? Anybody have any input about use of a harbridge. I have read some things that say horses have been known to flip themselves over in one. Kinda scary.

Hello. My mother's dog is afraid of thunderstorms and lightening. In regards to the lightening, he is even afraid when we get out a camera and the flash is used! For all of these fears, he starts to shake uncontrollably and wants to either hide or stay right by your side.
It's so sad to watch....
We live in Florida, so thunderstorms are not something we can get away from!
I hear that you aren't supposed to soothe them by petting them because it will teach them that what they're doing is the right thing? But, I can't stand to NOT touch him or pet him while he's shaking....
HELP!!!!
Thanks :)

I adopted a 3 month old puppy about 2 weeks ago. She was already paper trained. At first she rarely went anywhere else in my house than on her pad. Now it seems like she's starting to go on the carpet in other rooms of my house. She still goes on her pad too. It's like a half and half thing. What could make her start to un-housebreak herself? How do I get her back on track?
