this is a very hard habit to break. this problem usually occurs because they could have a vitamin defency, or they also could have been taken away from their mother too soon. is your dog a puppy or and adult? i suggest when he/she does this spray a little water from a spray bottle. this should deter your dog away because then he/she will associate eating the turds as not being pleasant anymore. also, get a cover over the litter box so that ONLY the cats can go in. you can also move it so that the dog cannot get anywhere near it. o yeah, and you can also try putting a little natural Ginger powder on your cats food, they shouldnt mind the taste but when they have a BM, dogs for some reason HATE the smell of Ginger. :D animals are so gross and yet so funny all the time (hehe)

Well, be cautious about relocating the litter boxes too much, since if your cats are not happy with the location, you already know what they do. Unfortunately, some dogs really love the eat the "tootsie roll" presents in the litter box. If you can put some type of gate in front of the litter boxes that your cats can easily go through, but not your dog, that may be your only solution. Dogs don't jump over, but cats do.

You might try sprinkling some hot sauce, or Tabasco sauce, on the cat droppings in the litter box. The next time your Corgi indulges, the hot sauce will leave an impression and hopefully, with repetition, will discourage further "snacking".

Is the litter box covered and out of the way?

My cats' litter box is in a bathroom between the toilet and the wall. It has a cover on it.

How often are you cleaning the litter box? You could increase the frequency of litter box cleanings.

I got an automatic cleaning cat box. There's also suppose to be a powder that you can put in the cat's food that makes it where the dogs don't want to eat it because it has a nasty taste (I know, what can be worse then poo?). I haven't tried it myself yet, because the self cleaning box has helped, but you could call your vet and ask about the powder.

Get a top entry litter box so the dog can't stick his head in. That's the best thing I ever did...plus it cuts back on the messy litter on the floor!

Like others have suggested .. put the litter box where only the cat can get to it, covered box and all the other suggestions.

I asked my vet about why our dogs do that, and he just said its like an hors d'oevres to them.. snack food. Said it will not hurt
them. But who wants to get doggy kisses from a poopy mouth!!! Not me!!!

Hi Angie here, i'm a vet tech. I will tell you the same thing my teacher told me, Cat droppings is like chocolate to dogs, The only thing you can do is mix garlic in with your cats food, the dog will smell it, and will not be chocolate anymore. LOL Good Luck
