Any age is acceptable, as long as that person is willing to take care of it, and not get bored with it.
Adopt a dog. A lot of dogs in shelters are already house trained.

Hi no matter what the first thing with dogs/puppys you have got to take into account if you love to keep your house clean and tidy then this is almost impossible with a dog/puppy as most people who shut there dogs outside or keep it in the kitchen all the time so it wont get onto the furniture or ruin a carpet I think should be allowed to have a dog as a dog once you get one is part of the family and should be loved like one.
Its best to get a dog from a puppy so you cant train it how you want it to be, if you get an older dog, they might be used to there own ways and you cant trian them like you can a puppy especially if you were thinking of getting one from a dog kennels some might be visious and if you get them home they might be different all together and it isnt far on the dog if you have to put it back in the kennel if it turns out you dont want it, even an old dog can ruin your carpet.. If you get a puppy these a really hard work and need all your time an attention, All dogs have fur and and puppys need to be trained to go outside to poo and wee etc, even old dogs chew and from time to time dogs have upset stomachs or are sick, so you carpet is bound to have some sort of mess on it at sometime so getting an older dog wont really save your carpet. lol
There is also the vet bills and worm treatement. flea treatment and vacinantions you also have to get and if you get a male dog there is the option of castration. am dif you get a girl dog you have to get them done as they bleed every. but you dont always have to get a male dog done.
I have got 4 dogs and one is a miniture Jack Russel she is a girl called amber and is lovely. We got her from a puppy she was tiny. But with little dogs they are very stubborn, amber wasnt hard to train as if she didnt anything wrong she that small it was hard to shout at here etc. But as with a big dog you notice more things. Jack Russels are known to be loyal to only one person so it will be perfect it you jack russel is yours. and as these are small they dont make much mess lol
But like I said I would go for it and I wish you all the best.

I think any age is ok. as long a you are responsible and look after the dog and also you must be able to 'afford' a dog. Even an older one may have to visit the vet from time to time. Dogs need walks, food, love and attention. A dog is a most faithful friend. He will be there when no-one else is.
If you had an older dog from the dog pound. You would need to know all the history. Sometimes even older dogs are not housetrained.
If it were me I would look for one that has belonged to someone who has passed away, and the dog would be loyal.
I would not have one who had illness like diabetics. You would want one who is healthy.
Puppies are easy to train. It doesn't take long. The worst with a puppy is if you get one who chews......

Well, the younger ones are better for adjusting to your life, also getting an older dog has no guarantee's that it won't pull up carpets or pee everywhere. I would recommend you get a pup and crate train him, that way he will be safe when your out and so will your house, and as he will be young, he will be easy to train to the crate.
If you stilln done fancy a pup, then why not go to your local dog shelter, they are very supportive to people taking on a dog.
Whatever you decide, it would be a good idea to enroll in training classes, they are great for socialising and help to build up a great relationship between you and the dog. A trained dog is a happy dog... therefore a happy owner. and as you sound passionate about dogs, you'll love it. Good Luck x

If what you really want is a dog not a puppy then I would recommend going to a re homing shelter. they will give you the best advice on what type of dog is for you. They will also have a realistic idea of the dogs temperament. There are so many homeless dogs out there. Age should not make a difference.

The only time to breed your dog is that if ithas had the hips confirmed eyes verified and been proven inthe ring to show the canine is of breed normal. If in case you have executed no wellbeing experiment and no longer validated the dog then do not breed. There are eight golden Retrievers in the pound that I work at proper now watching for properties. The youngest is 4 months historical. For each again yard breeder that mates their dog 5 pound puppys are put to sleep in view that of no homes and over population. Take a walk through your neighborhood shelter and notice for yourself No dog will have to be breed except 2 years of age.

First off, I don't think there's such a thing a miniature jack russel. You either have a jack russel or a rat terrier.
But to answer your question, if you don't think you want a puppy, then I would should suggest going on the web and looking for breed rescues. They usually have dogs of differing ages available for adoption.
Good luck with your search.

Well age is irrelevant to the question, you could be 70 and its not a good age to get a dog. Its just a matter of how responsible you are. Are you willing and able to take the dog to the vet when needed even if its an unconvinced for your or in the middle of the night. Are you willing to lose sleep and some freedoms? A dog is a big responsibility, you have to make sure its healthy has plenty of toys and goes out when it needs to. And depending on your area cleaning up after it. An adult dog is a great way to start. So if you’re willing to do all these things and more your ready for a dog. Just be aware of what dog your choose and how well trained and behaved he or she is.

If you get a jack russell, I hope you have lots of patience. They are good dogs, but very headstrong. They also tend to be barkers. If you want an easy going dog that is easy to train, don't get a jack russell. You would be better off going to your local shelter and giving some dog a home.
