I recently saw a dog at the local animal shelter and his information simply said terrier. He resembles very much a border terrier (shorter hair, wiry) but he is much larger and solid gray except for his white 'beard'. What do you think he could be?

Isn't it exciting to catch people in lies!?

Unfortunately I'm not currently able to adopt the beautiful guy from the shelter and I have a feeling that by the time I'm able to he'll be long gone.

He is just so beautiful and desperately want to know what he's made of!

Probably just a terrier mix. Possibly with schnauzer.

Most shelters just give a generic description of a dog - if it's got wiry hair it's a terrier, a curly tail is a northern breed, a blue eyed dog is a husky (despite there being many breeds that have blue eyes), black & tan is a dobie or rottie, unless it's small, then it's a dachsund, anything with more than three spots is a dalmatian mix, etc.

Mixes are the best kind to have. When people ask what kind of dog it is, make up something, I used to tell people my dog was a Hungarian Upidstay. There was always someone who would nod their head and tell me that their uncle used to breed them. LMAO!
