Ours does that. She doesn't have worms or impacted glands, she has a LOT of fur on her butt end, right around the hole, more than other cats, and the poops catch in it. This is the way she deals with getting the stuff off her fur. We call them Klingons (as in poop clings on) and it's not all that great for us, but she only does it when her stool is too soft and doesn't drop immediately into the box.

This is NOT a sign of worms like people seem to believe. She may be constipated..the stool becomes hard and sometimes it gets stuck to them on the way out..or they may have actually not been able to completely finish the job therefore they scoot to get the job done. The cat could also be having a problem with her anal glands, but this is more common in dogs.

A leaky bottom? She may have worms, or sometimes cats will eat something they shouldn't like a bit of string (which is dangerous) and then when they go potty, it doesn't all come out and they drag a bit of poo around for a while. You may want to have a vet check her to make sure she's OK.

My cat does this too! It took me a while to figure why but sometimes little poopies get stuck to the fur around her butt and when she jumps out of her box she rubs her butt on the floor to get them off. There's no real way to stop it. I just have to follow after her and clean it up.

Worms or constipation, the later usually from a change in diet. Either one requires a trip to the vet.

You don't say how old your cat is but if she is very young she might not have learned how to clean her butt good yet, mine would clean her whole body except her butt. So you will have to use wet wipes to clean her. Also if she has a lot of fur you will need to trim her fur around her butt real good and keep it trimmed, unfortunatley cats are not always as particular at keeping clean as people.

Itchy butt, or worms.
Wipe her butt really well with a warm wet washcloth.

If it doesn't help, take her to the vet to be treated for worms.
They'll give you a medication and they're easy to treat.

It could also mean that hair is growing around her, *ahem* butthole, and it's bothering her, but I'd try the wipedown first.

If she is dragging her bottom on the carpet she may have worms or need her anal glands squeezed. You need to take her to the vet to be checked for both.
