I have a pair of baby red ear sliders, they play all day and eat well. I bought a feeding suppliment to help them want to eat. They eat almost anything you puty in the ater. They seem to be hungry all the time. I saw somebody say they are beggers and I know mine sure are. But my main question is I have heard turtles are loners. When I bought my babies earlier this month, they have been together ever since birth they do everything together they even bask together. Should I worry that my turtles go against the grain and get along well and play together and bask together?

Our oldest is 4 years old, the 2 babies are a little over 1 year. They coexist nicely. They stack on each other to bask... the older one will sometimes knock the little ones around but not to be mean. Turtles usually bask together, if you ever see them at an aquarium, they will all line up on a log.. very cute.

Actually it is good you have a pair. Turtles are not necessary loners. From me be experienced with reptiles for 20 years now I have learned that not all turtles are loners. Especially not my female Florida Cooter who now has a male Red Eared Slider companion. She stopped eating all together before we got the Red Eared Slider. It lasted a couple of months and I was told by another reptile enthusiast that turtles are sometimes very social pets and need a comapnion. All of a sudden my Florida Cooter started to eat again and she and the Red Eared Slider are the best of buds and even are trying to mate.

Turtles are not 'social'- that is, they do not seek companions (unless mating), and do not form structured groups- that is, there are no leaders or specific duties (like wolves, bees, etc. do).

However, they do seem to like tank-mates sometimes... as long as there is plenty of room for everyone. If they are even a little crowded, they will become aggressive to each other.

To help ensure there is enough room, use the rule of thumb of 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length.

Aww. You so lucky. I want turtles like that. Don't separate them. That's mean. Feed it once a day, no mater how hungry they are. If you feed it too much, they will get fat and unhealthy.

I have red ear sliders too and it is okay to put them together. it helps them learn to coexist with other living things
but watch out feeding them too much
