Fish usually don't eat the first few days in a new tank because they are recovering from the stress of having been in the fish store and then being moved, etc.

What are you keeping your goldfish in? Remember he needs enough room to swim and grow -- 10-20 gallons because goldfish grow very big very fast. And he needs clean water to keep his own pee and poop from poisoning him. A filter is mandatory, and you still have to change 20-30% of his water every week. If your fish is in a bowl, change his water every day until you can manage to get him a tank. If you can't afford one or aren't willing to give up the space such a large tank takes up, you should take the goldfish back and buy a betta or guppies to keep in a 2.5 or 5 gallon tank.

Fish often take a while to acclimate to their new environment. Most knowledgeable aquarists will tell you not to worry about whether your fish eat for the first 7-10 days. They will tell you that after that time, if they still have not begun to eat, then it is time to be concerned. Next, it is not a good idea to overfeed goldfish anyway. You only need to feed them once a day and only what they eat in 5 minutes time. You should also fast them one day a week to avoid constipation and other food related diseases. Also, remember to remove all uneaten food from the water so it doesn't rot and foul the water. It is very easy to overfeed goldfish and this is not good for them. Goldfish can go for many days without eating, and when the water gets very cold, below 50 degrees F, they don't eat at all, so they are very capable of surviving without food. So, don't worry too much that your goldfish isn't eating. To a point, it actually is a good thing.

The fish might still be nervous & adjusting to a new home.
Another possibility is that the fish is eating a bit when you're not watching.
