The other day I was walking my dog in the woods and she darted off. I yelled for her and normally she comes right back. She didn't and as I grew frantic, I remembered she didn't have on a collar. Even if she had, I still wouldn't have been able to hear where she might be because there is nothing on there to alert me to her location. So, does anyone know of a bell or some kind of device that may help me keep up with the location of my dog, possibly by sound?

I live with my mom, stepdad, and little brother(11). We have a yellow lab named Rosie. Rosie is 6 months old. We wanted to adopt a new dog. My mom wants a pug but i perfer pitbulls. She said that they are dangerous but i don't think they are. I've seen a lot of stable pitbulls before. I need some stories or facts to prove to my mom that pitbulls are great family pets.

I'm getting a 1 year old cat on Tuesday. Can anyone tell me how often I should feed her and how much? I work shifts so does it matter if I feed her at different times?

Sorry, if you're reading this. I just need to get it off of my chest. Today as I was driving home, I noticed a little dog (without a leash on) standing with it's dumbask owners on the median of a 8 lane street. Then all of a sudden I just see the dog yelping and this stopped car. And that poor dog didn't know any better. God bless the doggy.

Daughter started a thread this morning on my cat. I posted this on her question, but she said I should start my own so it will be seen. Copy/pasted:

Mom aka Cat Owner here - We used a pair of vets for the past 20yrs. But recently moved and now have new vet. All of our vets went to Vet school at Auburn University and I have confidence in them or I would take my pets somewhere else. I have seen other vets through the years I wouldn't allow to treat my pets.

She has never had crystals in her urine. Her WBC is about 500. She is not diabetic. The new vet did 2 clean urine draws, both 2 days after finishing antibiotics. I have all the print out from the vet - but they don't show test results, just test run.

Cystocentesis
Urinalysis and Sedimentation

She's been eating Hill's Feline c/d for at least 6 yrs.

First vet put her on Baytril - 2wks on/2wks off. She did this until four or five months ago when it stopped working/she started going outside the box.

We tried Primor 120 and Clindamyc

My cat will not leave the house. If you carry him outside, it's almost like torture. He'll try so very hard to escape your arms and run back inside. If you leave the windows or doors wide open, he'll stand and stare outside but never leave.

Is your cat afraid like this? I kind of like it because I know I'll never lose him. Love him to death :)

I have been researching English bulldogs and have been wanting one for quite a while. The only thing that holds me back to get one is the high cost. In my local newspaper, I have come across some classifieds where the pups are free for adoption. They say that they have been vet checked, but it sounds too good to be true.

He tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS. "Salem" is a domestic shorthair that I took in as a kitten--he is strictly an indoor cat. He seems fine otherwise, except for the liplicking and rough meow over the past few days. Thank you!

Hi i was just wondering about everyones views on when a female dog should be spayed? I have a 7 month old staffie she hasnt yet had a season, and is booked into the vets wednesday coming to be spayed, (providing she doesnt come into heat). Since i have booked her in i have been told by several people that she should have at least 1 season first or possibly a litter?
I also have a 8 month old staffie boy who has not yet been done, i am waiting untill he is 12 months old as advised by a local vet. I will keep them apart if she does have her first season, but would it be best to breed them first?
Please note i would not breed mutts, both of my dogs are KC registered, 5 generation pedigree, and health checked. I do not wish to breed but if it is best for my female i would consider it. Please only serious answers, i am only asking for advice, if people have had there dogs spayed before they have come into heat, with no effects guaranted then i will

She is poo-ing uncontrollably. I feel horrible for her. Is there a natural remedy I could give her to harden up her stool a bit? She isn't acting sick. Just very nervous. (She knows she isn't supposed to poo on the floor, but I know she can't help it) I am giving her lots of water. She was born in May. Any Ideas? It is just too hot to keep her outside so she can get it all out. I have such a weak stomach lately when it comes to poo too...

We have a lot of dogs and it seems that the meat bees are attracted to their food. Most of the dogs that we have are puppies, and I do not want them to get hurt.

If dogs in general are as expensive to take care of as some insist, then the question must be raised, "Are many dogs better off sitting in pounds and shelters waiting to be euthanized instead going to tight-budget middle class homes?"

Many people that own dogs are found to be rather obsessive, and their voices get heard most when it comes to dog ownership.Alot of policies and laws have been changed to fit these obsessive dog owners request. Many of these owners don't realize that they are actually hurting more dogs than they are helping. Many people love dogs though it has to be understood that dogs are just animals. You cannot put the same value of life on a dog as you would a human life. Human life is immensely more valuable than an animals. An illustration to reveal this goes along these lines," In a burning house a dog and man are trapped. You only have enough time to save one. Who do you save? If you were rationally sane you would choose to save the man."

from link:
Coyotes may be killing area cats
Steve Millard can't say for sure who mauled Angelo, the family's 5-year-old cat, but he has pretty strong suspicions based on a neighbor's sighting of a coyote where Angelo's collar and part of his remains were found in Wedgwood on Thursday.

"They're everywhere," Sgt. Kim Chandler, who covers King County for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, said of coyotes. Yesterday he could offer no population estimate but was confident there are "thousands" in the county.
