According to the web sites below, cats can jump 7 times the height of their tail. This equates to jumping up in the air approx 5 foot. As a comparison, a human would have to jump twenty-nine feet to match this standing high jump.

Ours can clear a 6' bookcase edge without touching anything on the way up. Figure anything lower than 8' will be able to be reached by the average cat in a single levitating vertical jump.

My cat is a jumper. He's very acrobatic. He's jumped half way up the wall following a laser light. When I play with him with a string tied to a pole he'll do flips. He is marvelous to watch. He's jumped off my 2nd story balcony too and wasn't hurt at all. So that is at least 15 feet.

I don't know what the record is, but most cats can jump up onto a washing machine or kitchen counter fairly easily.

I believe they can jump between 5-6 feet stright up. We have four and this is usually what they jump.
Great question. I will look back to see what others say as well. Blessings, Patti
