Well, to begin, scoop the cat's feces into the litter box and show the cat that it's there. Each time he or she goes somewhere else, put the feces into the litter box and show it to the cat. If you notice it's about to go elsewhere, put it into the litter box and encourage it by petting and such. Soon it'll learn that that's where it belongs. If you notice the cat likes one area in particular to do it's business in, move the litter box to that area. Keep consistent with it, and it'll learn quickly where to go!

Box train as in litter box? Show them where the litter box is, and make sure they can get to it 24/7. Using the litter box is instinctive behavior. The only problems I've ever had with a cat not using the litter box were either protests against a nasty litter box or an old cat who was too senile to hit the pan.

I use those little canned air horns and if it goes outside the litter box I blow that airhorn at them real hard and it teaches them to not do it.
