He just went through his first treatment of heartworm shots, and now he coughs. Hard cough. Is this normal? Please help!

My family and i recently purchased 4 dogs from a local breeder. we've had them about 3 1/2 months. within these last months the puppies have chewed through my carpet, i had to pull up the carpet, then they chewed through the tile underneath the carpet, they use my room as their personal bathroom. we have started housebreaking them, but have been unsuccessful sofar. to help with the training we purchased portable crates. they go all night long without soiling themselves, but when i let them out(after i walk them) and feed them, and i let them roam my room. they relieve themselve in my room, which has caused a horrid smell throughout my home. they don't have a way of telling us when they have to potty. i have successfully trained a dog before. he is able to roam my entire home and can tell us when he has to go. but my puppies won't give us a signal. i don't want to have to sell them/ give them away. but i have no other ideas on how to control them. please HELP!.

Heres a question. So many of you get in a fit when someone is to buy from a backyard breeder, you say "get from a reputable breeder, or get one from the shelter they need homes"

Besides the obvious facts like health issues and stuff why do you discourage so much from buying from Byb's. Your not going to be able to stop bybing. Don't these pup's need homes to? If these pups dont go to a good home guess what happens, they end up in the very place you say to get a dog from. The shelter...I would venture to say most pure bred dogs in shelters are from back yard breeders. What's the difference in getting one as a pup or waiting untill it's in the pound? I would much rather take in a byb dog knowing I was going to care for it..then some ahole getting it...not liking something about it and dumping it off.

I think some of this mentality comes from a smugness..that having the 1500 dollar dog makes you look like high society. Im against byb by the way.

There are people who claim that those of us telling people to spay and neuter are wrong so if you think it is ok for anyone who owns dogs to breed and to do it without knowledge where are your answers when there is a problem with the BYB who took your advice?
Why encourage breeding if you are not going to help when there is a problem?

I need something to eat algae in my 1 gallon bowl with about 10 fry. Will a snail be ok, and what kind of snail? I don't really want a snail because it can crwal right out of the bowl. Will a shrimp work? What kind? Any other ideas?

How do I break my cat from the habit of wanting to drink water from the kitchen faucet? He eats dry food, and am concerned he doesn't get enough water. He never seems to drink from his water bowl, and I am not always around to turn on the faucet.

I have a 29 gallon tank that has been up and running for about 4 years. The last 2 years have been excellent, with only 1 fish lost. I have a glass fish that has been in the tank for about a year. Two days ago, I noticed it has a popeye on the left. On the same side of his body near the tail there is a patch of white, raised bumps about half the size of the pencil eraser. There is a pink area sitting just under the white bumps. (It looks almost like a tiny cluster of white grapes). There are no other spots on his body.

I treated the tank with Tank Buddies for bacterial infections, and it didn't seem to do any good. He is eating fine, and otherwise acting normal. And he can't be too bad yet because the catfish hasn't eaten him. (The catfish tends to dispose of weak fish).

Any ideas on what this might be and what I can do about it?

We are going threw a hot spell right now where I live, my aquarium temperature is currently 84 in both my tropical and goldfish tanks and both heaters are OFF. I have frozen gallon bags of water that I put in the tank to help cool it down I found that bags of ice cubes just melted to fast and I can re-use the whole frozen bags. My bags are also double wrapped as I had a problem earlier where the bag burst and the water went into my tank(it was untreated when it went it but I double treated my tank with tap water conditioner). Does anyone know of anything I can do besides the ice and water changes? I would really appreciate it thanks!

I've got about 12 guppy fry. I had them in a 2.5 gallon bowl for about 2 weeks, but all I had in one of my 10 gallon tanks were 2 cory's... So I put the fry in the 10 gallon with my cory's. I've got plenty of hiding spots for the fry, and my cory's seem to be minding there own business. I've also got a filter and good lighting for the tank... I've never had guppy fry before, but what can I do so they grow up to be healthy?

I'm in charge of running the "win a goldfish" booth at my camp's carnival on Friday. Some of the kids have already been telling me that the fish always die in a day or 2, which I know is because nobody cares for them the right way. I'd like to print up some easy instructions that I can hand out with the fish, but I admit I have no idea what to do with them either! Anyone know what I can suggest to these people? I just noticed one day ago that my german shepherd puppy has a bump directly next to his penis. It's almost like there's a marble right beneath the skin (very hard) I'm pretty sure it's not his testicles, I can see & feel for the 2 testicles where they are supposed to be (the marble shape has been there for one whole day & hasnt moved) Then this morning, I went outside to greet him & he had 2 more marble like shapes, one on each side of his penis (along with the first one still up above) After about 15-20 seconds the 2 new bumps just dissapeared into his skin! Someone please help! I've never owned a male puppy before, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
