My rottweiler had knee surgery a year and a half ago. She did very well from the surgery. (Her condition is degenerative). The vet told me there was an 80% chance her other knee would go within a year and unfortunately it did. My Bernese Mountain Dog 8 months after my Rottweilers surgery decided to jump over a fence chasing a wild turkey and blew out her knee thus needing the same surgery. We had a rough year and a half. Rehab for this surgery is approx. 8 months. We have spent over 8,000.00 so far on both dog in less than two years. I have heard mixed reviews on doing the surgery or not doing the surgery. Financially it is two difficult for us go for another 3,500.00. Is there anyone out there that has a LARGE breed dog that decided not to do the surgery? And if so how is the dog doing?

my sister found a kitten few days ago and shes kinda too silent and very passive. she never run around like other kittens and looks sad and depressed. maybe she misses he mum or sumthing, some kid had cut her whiskers, and she had this thing in her eye all the time, like an eye infection and we have to wipe it with damp cloth. does cat cries? what should we do to cheer her up?

I have a 5 year old cat who is litter-trained and 'till recently hasn't caused me any problems with it. First, he started peeing on dirty clothes that were laying around. So, taking some of you all's good advice I became a better housekeeper. However, I just went in the bathroom and saw where he peed right in front of a fresh litter box. I caught him peeing on a pile of laundry earlier as well.

i have a couple of femail guppies, and i noticed that they have a dark spot near the bottom . i know this happens when it is pregnant but how do you know when the guppy is goin gto drop the fry ? besides the fact that they get somewhat slower and hide often, how do you know when to seperate the guppy into the breeder ?

ok, my dog Kobuk is a Saint Bernard, he can pull over 200 pounds, last time i tryed to take him for a walk i got dragged on my tummy and it hurt, TREATS DO NOT WORK when kobuk is in that state of mind he doesnt pay attition to anything, and with giving prays its like he cant hear anything to when hes out side, WATERBOTTLES do not woork i tyed to spray him with lemon juice and nothin, i tryed hopping on top of him once he took off and i got a ride, and i am 13 so i do not have enogh money for a profenal trainer,

i live in alaska and there is only 2 other people living on my road so its not really dangerous when he run into the road

PLEASE, i just REALLY want to walk my dog!

I have a tom cat that hangs around my house sometimes. Recently he showed up sick after eating rat poisen at my neighbors, I nursed him through that, he disappeared. He showed back up only to be dragged off by my neighbor's dog and left for dead in their driveway. I nursed him through that, he disappeared. Now he has shown back up, and he is a mess. He is drooling excessively, he has a runny nose with some bloody discharge, he isn't eating or drinking that i have seen and his inner legs are caked witht he filth he keeps wiping off of his face. He begs for me to pay attention to him until it looks like I'm going to kennel him. Then he runs. I'm afraid to touch him because I don't know what's wrong. He has been worsening for a week now. At first he was just lethargicly moping around with a slight nasal discharge. He went from slight to fright in about a day. What the ???? is wrong with him? Do I need to worry about him biting or scratching me? He hasn't been agressive.

My beloved doggie died unexpectedly 2 days ago; the day before my birthday. It hit me very hard. He was 10, but he had some good years left in if it weren't for his undetected problem.
My question is this: do you believe that there is a Dog Heaven, so to speak? Where do animals go after they die? Same place as us or not? Any opinions...curious in my grief.

wolves? jackles? coyotes? or the mixture of all of them?
i believe that its wolves or possibly the mixture of all of them. they're all capable of producing offsprings, so the chromosomes all work out, right? anyways, selective breeding came from thousands and thousands of years. i think its quite possible that dogs came from wolves..

And i need a name for her.
[Note: i love desginers, so if you could incorporate something that would be great. ex: coco, couture, etc.]

I'm full on against hunting my family raised me to believe hurting an animal is wrong. My boyfriend's family is all hunters which I'v kinda learned to deal with but his parents are gone and they left me to watch their house and in the garage there are 2 pigeons that his dad will use to teach the dogs to fetch when he gets back. I'm very upset about this especially since I have been feeding and taking care of them the last week. isn't this a type of animal abuse? what excuse can I come up with so maybe I can let them go? I don't want his family to hate me but this is wrong!! hunting is bad enough but killing animals right in his back yard to train his dog that's disgusting!!!

I have a 4 yr old ball python & a baby red eared slider turtle. I already have a large terrarium for my snake and a small 10 gal for my turtle.
I would like to get a larger terrarium for my red eared slider, but i would also like to save space by combinding the 2. I know that my snake would probably pay no mind to the turtle, but I am worried that the turtle would snap at my snake.
I have looked at some terrariums that have both land and water. I was wondering if there are any possible problems that I will run into if I was to have them together?
If there is a safe method for them to coexist, I would like a suggestion of were to find the appropriate terrarium.

When I got my puppy she was on diamond pet food which is apparently very hard to find so I will need to change her food once it runs out and I'm not sure what is the best puppy food to get her? I thought about beneful but I've heard it is actually very bad - what would you recommend and why?
