Definitely after. Never exercise a dog on a full stomach. Also when you get home after hard play, running, let the dog rest maybe 30 minutes before feeding her...

I would feed her afterward. Make sure she gets water before, and even take some bottled water with you. I don't know where you are, but it is very hot here right now. You don't want your dog suffering a heat stroke. You might even take some treats with you. No time like the dog park to work on commands that you are teaching at home. That way the dog learns to pay attention to you even when there is alot going on around them. Give the treats as a reward for a job well done. That way if the dog is very very hungry, it will stay her until ya'll can get home. Plus, she knows what a good dog she is because mommy is rewarding her. Not too many treats though, she will eat all those, and then when you give her the dog food she won't eat it. Have fun with your fur baby!

I come home from work at 6:45 a.m and take the 2 big dogs to the dog park around 7:30 when all the dogs have gone out. I give the big guys a large biscuit b4 we go and feed them a full hour after they last ran around. Large, deep chested breeds such as GSDs, weims, Dobes, Danes, Lab, St. poodles etc can get a problem known as bloat where the dog food expands and the dog's stomach gets to the point of popping. If the stomach turns upside down it is Gastric Dilatation Volvulus which is 100% fatal. Small breeds are not as prone to either problem but running after feeding can cause vomiting and cramps just as people get when the eat and swim. Dogs should not eat within an hour of exercising or drinking a lot of water. And dogs, just like kids, should not be fed when hot from exercising as they often vomit their food back up.

I work third shift. I feed my dog when I come home. I take her for a walk in the park right after. We walk about a half hour then we play fetch.

Well, I think you should feed your dog after playing, because you should never feed your dog before playing sports, it will get sick and throw up, but if you feed your dog after playing, it will be even better, because playing sports your dog will loss energy and so it becomes hungrier.

I agree with "after"! Dogs, especially large dogs can be made very ill by running and playing after eating. They can get "bloat" which can be fatal. Any dog is better off eating after a work out and time to calm down. You can always take your pup out shortly after eating to take care of any doggie business. Take a couple of treats with you to the park if you pup is really hungry. Have fun

ALWAYS AFTER. The dog must barely move after he has eaten. It is dangerous for him to play, run etc. after his meal, because the food may revert from the stomach and then into the lungs, i think.
