I'm full on against hunting my family raised me to believe hurting an animal is wrong. My boyfriend's family is all hunters which I'v kinda learned to deal with but his parents are gone and they left me to watch their house and in the garage there are 2 pigeons that his dad will use to teach the dogs to fetch when he gets back. I'm very upset about this especially since I have been feeding and taking care of them the last week. isn't this a type of animal abuse? what excuse can I come up with so maybe I can let them go? I don't want his family to hate me but this is wrong!! hunting is bad enough but killing animals right in his back yard to train his dog that's disgusting!!!

I sympathize with you and your situation. If your in laws knew that you did not like what they were doing, they would have never asked you to look after these birds.

I was in this same situation years ago. However, i did inform the people i was sitting for, of my feelings before i taken on the task.

Although i don't like the hunting idea for sport, if you kill to eat the meat, it's a whole different ball game. But to use live animals, pin them down to train dogs, i have a problem with that. No animal should be put through that. Your quest is going to be proving that, that is what their intention is to do just that with the pigeons. Asumptions of doing so, is not against the law, and please don't get upset with me, i was a humane officer, and i got this all the time.

My advice to you, is go with your gut instinct. Talk with your in laws, and get them to train the dogs in another way. Using live animals is NOT the way to train their dogs. Taking them in the field is the way to do it. They need to stop being lazy and do it the right way, if that is what they choose.

Good Luck

Are they hunting legally? They can only LEGALLY hunt animals/birds during the specific hunting season for that species, and they must be licensed as well. There are also limits on the numbers they can take. Make sure they are doing this by the book. If not, you can make an anonymous phone call to US Fish and Game. You could "accidentally" let the birds go...but they will probably just go out and get more. Unfortunately pigeons are not protected by law like all other native birds...but there are still animal cruelty laws..so this can be considered a form of cruelty.

that is wrong.. i dont like hunting one bit

if they are in a cage in the garage then say that you were giving them fresh food and the dog came in snd chased it out!

that way the pigeons will be free and mabey the dog wont have to go though training...

The implicit assessment of the cage to an egg, once you write `fledge' interior the final line, is stunning; at this factor the assessment is virtually subliminal, and on an analogous time as your poem achieves truly a sweetness, i'm undecided i might individually ever desire to be so diffused as that (however `unborn... minor songs' is a small quantity of emphasis to this concept). I additionally like the sound of your multisyllable masculine rhymes (or off-rhymes) once you employ them; gravity/fly/die is resembling poetry/me in a single of your Mars poems. sure `by skill of' earth properly-knownshows your Stephen Hawking readings and makes this, too, a Mars poem for my area. As a pianist, the only suggestions that complication me a splash are the puns on substantial songs/minor songs; i'm undecided in the event that they have been meant to be noticeably musical, however the inevitable association, for me, comes throughout the time of as slightly peculiar. standard, there are various stuff i like in this poem. thank you.

I don't know if the same rule applies where you are, but here live baiting - training animals to hunt/kill/race/track with other live animals (to "bloody" them) is illegal, and is classed as animal cruelity. Check with your local animal rescue/support group to see if that rule applies where you are.
If so they should be able to advise you where to go from there.
