My beloved doggie died unexpectedly 2 days ago; the day before my birthday. It hit me very hard. He was 10, but he had some good years left in if it weren't for his undetected problem.
My question is this: do you believe that there is a Dog Heaven, so to speak? Where do animals go after they die? Same place as us or not? Any opinions...curious in my grief.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your dog! I know how hard it is, when you lose a part of the family. Dogs do go to Heaven~ Just this side of heaven, is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies, that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills, for all our special friends , so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old, are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed, are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

If you believe in heaven, I would have to think that dogs and cats would go too. The simple fact is that you love them. Therefore, how would heaven be a place of perfect happiness if you could never see them again? The Christian mythology teaches that they don't because only humans have souls. In my opinion, this is a remnant of a primitive human need to be "special" or "better " than other animals. Can you really think of your dog's face without seeing the soul in him? That spark of something special that made him a unique being?

Personally, I believe that ALL things are reborn sooner or later. "Heaven" and "hell" would be awfully crowded if it werent true. Furthermore, ETERNAL punishment for limited sin seems a bit harsh of a punishment for a "loving" god.

I'm sorry for ur loss, while i don't have any clear belief about heaven for humans or dogs i do believe that my best buddy went to be with my father when he died because i could see them hunting together, and i also believe that he is here to help train the puppy i just got because i see the puppy in the place that was my best buddy's favorite place, just siting like he is listening to the sage advise, and also the people who drive by my house say they see him in the yard, he was a very distinctive looking dog, pure white lab greyhound cross, known well by the people in my small town because they saw him a lot.so i guess i believe that he is here with me not in a heaven that is a story made up by a religion.

Hi

This is a bit sad but it may help you....

My brother got killed by a bear 27 years ago now. I had been allowed to keep animals to help me get over feeling lonely. Since then some of my pets have passed on, as have my Mom's pets. We always have believed that they go to heaven and keep our lost family company and will be there for us when the time comes. So don't worry just try think of it that way, the loss of a pet is like the loss of a family member and mourning them is, and should be, normal. I hope this will help you.

Happier Days

I totally feel for you, we just had our dog die yesterday she was 13. I especially feel really bad because she had been having trouble breathing and was gagging every now and then for a couple of weeks, and I waited till the day she died to take her to the vet. She died right in the examination room before my eyes.As far as your question my personal belief is I dont think there is a heaven for animals, I think that they were created by our creator for us to enjoy as friends and companions while we are here on this earth. But I really do believe that we really can learn from our pets because they have such unconditional love to give us, and they are always there for us. I do believe that there will be animals in heaven for us to enjoy,
I know right now that I am feeling alot of guilt because I feel that I could have maybe saved her life a little bit longer if I had brought her in sooner.

I do! I know it in my heart, because I had a very real dream in which my beloved Beagle,Otis, who had passed, was in a large, sunny white room, playing with one of his doggy friends, Sammie,a Welsh Corgi who had also passed, and they were playing like puppies! In real life, just before they passed, they were both paralyzed! Anyway, the dogs came running to me and were kissing me,and there was woman there, and I asked her what she was doing and she looked at me like I was stupid and said "I'm taking care of these dogs." I said, "But they're dead."and she said,"Of course they are,but they still need me to care for them until you come." I woke up then, and I was so relieved, because I knew that it was a sign that I will see my animals, and everyone that I've ever loved again when my time comes! You don't think God would create animals and then deny them a Heaven after they've been our friends, worked for us,and saved people's lives,do you? I don't! I often picture Jesus with a Canaan dog sitting by his side, which is a herding dog native to the Middle East.Since so many people had sheep and goats then,I'm sure that He knew,or may have even had a dog.

Dogs go to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for their owners to join them. It's a place where all our beloved pets go to wait for us and to meet up with their past brothers and sisters. It's sort of like a heaven for dogs only it's just a stopping place before we meet with them and take them home with us. You can find out more about the Rainbow Bridge at:

I listed my dog Buster on the rainbow bridge site after he was killed by a hit and run.

First I would like to say sorry about your doggie, and I do believe that all dogs really do go to heaven.

Of course they go to doggie heaven. Then they wait in a line and then get reincarnated into a human. Thats what I heard.

All of God's creations go to Heaven even the ones that didn't turn out so good. God is very forgiving!
