OKAY--calm down here! She doesn't need a name right this minute. At 9 weeks old, she's not gonna answer to anything anyway. Before naming her, (just call her "kitty" for right now), -- this is what I've always done with mine, anyway---I watch the cat/kitten, learn their behaviors and preferences, the way they act in all respects, and then combined with color (sometimes), I'll usually name the cat by their personality. A couple of nice names for a pure black female cat are: Samantha (Sammie) Daisy, or Moonbeam (Moonie). Just have fun with her for right now---a name will come. Good luck to you with your new little friend.

If shes JET BLACK why not name her Whitby. This is a famous place in the UK where the stone JET was mined in the victorian times.

A bet no on else has a cat called Whity.
Always be original.

Well my girls are named: Angel, Honey, and Purrcella. Purrcella is solid black.

Here are some other names you might consider regarding her color:: Ebony, Onyx, Jet, Raven, and Sable.

Here are a few more: Beauty, Pretty, Purrfect, Precious, Foxy, Puddy, Fancy, Hope, Sapphire, Jazzy, and Sheba.

Here are some links that might also help:

I advise you look at her and think of something cute that comes to mind (don't be unoriginal i.e fluffy, black). I have two that you may like (I say 'different' names are more interesting):

Zibby
Tobi

I don't get what the emergency on this is. come up with a name yourself, give it a few days to learn her personality. make sure you get her to the vet with in a week to make sure she is healthy and all.

Happy b-day!

You don't have to name your cat based on her color, but if you do:
Ebony
Smokie
Midnight
Spook
Dusty

Or how about Pumpkin, Sadie, Matilda

sooty, inky, midnight. I read somewhere that animals like to hear the "y" or "ie" on the end of their name.
