Should be generally easy with a bit persistence, depending on whether you friend is the opposite sex? we all know that a dog will get especially protective of it's owner, take my male staffyxcross boarder collie, he will not let another male dog come near me, but the females he doesn't mind. Is this the case with your dog? Anyway the only thing you really have to do is watch both dogs at all times, feed them a treat on a sit command, at the same time. At=re both dogs well trained? If not maybe you should start some obedience training together! jack Russel, one word, hyper-active. Your chow chow is basically walking into this room with the jack Russel and telling him to stay away, I'm not bothered with you! I'm better than that! well I would get your friend to take his jack russel for a big walk (wear him out playing fetch, WHATEVER as long as he is tired) and soon he will see that if he wants to get along with your chow chow he has to sit down and play nice! I would keep each dog on a short lead so you can reprimand them easier, then if they are behaving and ONLY them I would let them sniff and play.

Chow Chow belongs to a more mature kind of breed, which means they don't play ball as enthusiastic as a jack Russel. Chow Chow is good for more adults who are not so active Jack Russell is mischievous by nature suitable for young children of adults who love to run and shot. so both is of two extreme.
Than again, dogs are dogs, they need pampering and they view food as the top priority in life.
Try feeding them side by side with their favourite food. Once they know that they do not fancy the food of another, they will settle in peace. When cuddling, do it at the same time so no jealousy is involved.
Hope it helps.

The jack might be too hyper for the chow. They just might not like each other. Good Luck.

Almost any breed of dog will get along with a cat if they're raised together. It's best to have a cat first and then get a dog as a puppy. PS when it comes down to a scrap, my money's on a cat every time. They are built for predation. Dogs are built for scavenging. Cats have claws and speed.

I have a large lazy breed and a tiny energic breed and they get along fine. I think if it wasn't for the little guy the big guy wouldn't get enough exercise. I would suggest trying to walk them together one on each side of you and devote time to supervising the two together

You can't! They are two different breeds and personalities.Larger dogs are more prone to be laid back, while small dogs have a higher metabolism which makes them hyper.
