is there MORE THAN ONE way to tell if a cat is female or male. what are those ways

The only way to be sure is to look at the sex organs, the area under the tail.

A female is a dot and a dash (anus and vagina).

A male is two dots (anus and penis).

If in doubt, ask your vet to check. Very young kittens usually are very hard to tell, but once they get older, it's pretty obvious.

there's only one way to tell and that is to look at the genital area of the cat. if it has testicles or something that looks as if it were testicles, more than likely it's a male. As the cat matures you can definitely distinguish a male from a female as the male will have much larger testicles than it did as a kitten. As for the female I'm sure you can tell which is which after so long.

If the kitty is "fixed" it's more difficult. My (female) cat has a small scar on her lower belly that I can feel- a male cat wouldn't have that scar. A Vet would know for sure, though.
