A pomeranian dog, around age 1, suddenly acted sick. He started throwing up and acting lethargic. He wanted to stand in his water dish. We moved him inside. He immediately started having bloody diarreah. We moved him to the shower and ran to the store to get some pedialite to keep him hydrated. When we got back he was covered in feces, stank like dog saliva and was unresponsive. His breathing seemed labored. We called the vet, but it was the weekend so we had to wait for the vet to call us back. He died just a few minutes later. Upon inspection of his body, we found that his testicles were dark purple, almost black and when we pressed them lightly, blood came out of his anus. What could have possibly been wrong with him? And, should we be concerned for he health of our other dogs?

I just bought an Oranda Goldfish (I believe thats what they are called.). I currently have him/her in a 1gallon undergravel filtered tank by Top Fin. Sorry, I dont know the exact name. Here's a picture of my fish, and a video. (Don't mind the loud noise in the background of the video, it was from my very noisy air conditioner.)

Video:

Sorry, the picture isn't so good. Chino is a fast swimmer. I will be upgrading to a bigger tank soon. Ok, so what I wanted to know is how many times a week should I clean the tank? Also, sorry if this sounds stupid, but how do you know if a fish is a boy or a girl? Finally, is it normal for a fish to go up to the top of the tank (like in the video) and eat the bubbles? Will he/she get sick from that?

Thanks, Ali.

My kids have this rabbit that we got about a month ago. Here lately she has been chewing on just about anything she can get her teeth on. She is litter box trained so we let her have run of the house and for the past several days she is chewing on everything. Last night I left a book I was reading on the bed and when I went to another room for a few minutes I came back and half the cover was chewed off--and swallowed. I have no idea why she is doing this. She has salt and mineral blocks in her cage along with wood chew toys and her feed. So if you have heard of this or if you have had this happen any help would be greatly appreciated.....

So, I'm getting a dog next month, its a show dog and we thought that might be a lot to handle so we decided on a co-ownership. We get the dog for 1/2 price, we get to keep it at our house and we both get to take it to shows.

But, last week we talked about a dog training thing for me to attend with him. I cant drive, so my dad said I could ride with him, but since they dont know the guy that well they wanted met to bring a friend along. I told the breeder that I MIGHT be able to come. But, then my friend cancelled out and my dad wouldnt let me go with the breeder alone. So, I told him I couldnt go. He wrote back in an email to me mad and dissapointed saying that reservations were already submitted and he was wondering how a co-ownership would work if I have already dropped on something important.

I told him the reason I couldnt go was because of a prior commitment, but now what do I say because I'm afraid he might get mad and not let us have the dog. What should I say to him?

I have an almost three year old cat with a recurring eye problem. After much research on my part - both about felines with herpes and finding a competent veterinarian - we are fairly certain my spayed female has herpes. We have decided to try treatment with Vet Viralys l-lysine powder. Unfortunately, my cat is not terribly interested in eating food with the powder mixed in.

Is there another way to deliver the powder? Perhaps suspended in a liquid and delivered orally with a syringe? She is a very picky eater, and we can't get her to eat any human food, and she has turned away from any wet food we mix this powder in to. She also is quite uncooperative with paste-like medicines, so I do not have high hopes for the l-lysine gel, plus since I already bought the powder, I'd like to try to use that.

I have a 10-gallon fish tank. No matter how much I clean it, algae just keeps growing back. I have tried snails and algae eating fish, which harldy help. I don't keep the fish tank light on very much (said to promote algae growth). I usually end up scrubbing it with an algae scrubber, but that just makes the tank murky and I end up having to scrub it again in a couple of days. I don't overfeed my fish (mostly guppies, so what could be the cause of this? And is there any easier way to remove algae than scrubbing it every couple of days? By the way, this isn't just a little algae, it's a lot that covers all sides of the tank, the plants and other ornaments, and the stones on the bottom. Please help me.

I have two large dogs that love to "Protect" the house (so to speak). (Barking at every animal humaningly possible!!)

Well one of my dogs is no trouble when we walk it on the leash she is very well behaved, but my other dog (Golden Ret/German Shep mix) goes CRAZY! She is a large powerful dog and we don't know what to do.
If she sees a cat she chases it, another dog, she chases it. She isn't a bad or mean dog, I guess the hunting instinct in her takes over.
We had a normal collar and we had it as tight as we could, but when something goes by, she managed to squeeze out of that (and took us about an hour to get her back. She's 7 and still acts like a puppy no matter how much we repermand her or anything)
We recently got a choker and we are scared to walk her on it because she literally chokes herself to an extreme that we are scared. Like, literally choking that she gags, she gets so excited and just runs and it's crazy.
My question is how do we calm her down??

I have the feeling they were eggs; my male betta seemed to really take an interest in them. He began to make a bubble nest and was showing off for my female.

The only thing that seems to calm them down is their KONG toy filled with peanut butter, but thats only temporally. Is their anything else I can do?

We have a 22wk mastiff who is already around 60 lbs and looks very intimidating but is really a big baby. She loves to bark at people, especially our neighbors when they are walking around in their yards. Her bark is very loud and I think we are scaring our neighbors. We just moved in and don't know them yet and I feel we are making a bad impression. She loves people and is just trying to say hi. Any ideas on how to get her to settle a bit. Her breed is part guard so she is being protective too. It seems she just gets so excited (her butt shakes constantly) she can't calm down. Any help?
