HRS says 7-10 years but it's more common for rabbits to live 10+ now as knowledge and vet care are increasing.

They are fairly difficult to take care of, more than cats and most dogs. They need much larger cages than most pet stores sell (don't go smaller than a 42" dog crate!), need a specialized diet (most pet store pellets are worthless except for a very few brands, and they need hay and possibly veggies). They need to be kept indoors to protect them from predators, weather, and parasites. They should be spayed/neutered to prevent behavioral problems and prevent uterine cancer which is very common and deadly. They need special vets because most don't know much about rabbits and can do more harm than good to them. They need lots of playtime out of their cage every day, not matter how big the cage is.

Also, if you want a bunny please adopt! There are so many rabbits in shelters and rescues. Most are there because their owners are sick of taking care of them, and they tend to be around a year old or younger in my local shelter. They're also usually spayed/neutered already which saves you a lot of fuss and money.

Make sure to read up on rabbits before you get one. They are a real commitment, but I love them! Here are two great places to start:

Bunnies could live up to 7-9 years I THINK. My old bunny only lasted a few months though =( Google it for more info. You dont have to bath them, they clean themselves, but you HAVE to clean their cages a few times a week. And make sure they have LOTS to chew on. Rabbit toys are best. Their teeth keep growing. They need lots of water and food. But dont over feed them =3 They also need room to hop around but you must watch them if you let them to run freely. Hope I helped =3

Average is 6-8 years, depending on size. Go to www.rabbit.org for complete care info. :)
