We have 3 Dogs and 1 of them will jump our 6 foot privacy fence. He does not run off, he returns to the yard. I have 3 neighbors that has witnessed him jumping out and jumping back in. They were actually amazed that he can clear it. My problem is, I do not want him to run away or get out because being a Pit Bull someone might call the authorities, even though he is a very gentle and sweet dog, just curious and energetic. I Do NOT want to use a shock collar or really anything that might harm him too much. I've heard of dogs getting burned really bad around the neck from the shock collars. If anyone has a solution please let me know. Thanks.

I'm getting cows and I plan to train them as calves. I'll do halter lessons and try to do longe line lessons. Is it possible to ride cows? Do they like it? I was thinking of going bareback, but wouldn't their extremely boney backs hurt? I have three horse saddles, one little kid saddle and the others are much bigger. If I just use a regular saddle pad would it hurt their backs? Should I layer them? I obviously won't use a bit, probably just a halter and spare reins. I realize that cows are harder to train than horses and probably don't respond as well. I'll try my best!! Help is appreciated!

I just recently got an email from dog trust saying that Dublin City Council has recently banned 11 breeds of dog (including Rottweilers, Bull Terriers and German Shepherds) from all their properties, including houses, flats and estates. Existing tenants are being given a chance to rehome their animals, but if alternative accommodation can't be found, then the dogs will be destroyed. It also seems likely that these breeds will be banned from public parks - which means dog owners living in private accommodation will also be affected. PLEASE go to dogs trust and sign the petion PLEASE

I have three 20 gallon tanks that I want to set up with fish. One of them is already set and has a dinosaur bischir in for about 2 months now. I want to make one more freshwater (for money reasons) and I hope to have one saltwater too if I can afford it. First I need some good fish that can live ok with about a 5 inch bischir. I need some more freshwater fish that are neat and live together ok, and I need some cheap, but interesting and relatively low maintence saltwater fish. I am going to slowly build up, not buy them all at once, so fish that will adjust to each other ok.
I also want some opinions on buying fish online, and some places to do so. Is this a good idea? None of our local pet stores have an impressive selection, especially for freshwater.

I know nothing about aquatic plants, so any help with what to buy for what kind of fish would also be useful.

Thanks in advance!

my daughter got a golfish at the fair yesterday. but, i read they are very messy. we have a 1 gallon bowl. i am now thinking, maybe she should just get a betta. if we do get a betta, can we put him in the golfish bowl? not with the other golfish though. like, would we have to change the water again even though the goldfish has only been in there for a day?

This is for my 7 year old mixed breed dog. Hes medium sized. Since I dont know what breeds hes mixed with so therfor I can not just buy a book on the nutritional needs of each of the breeds hes mixed with..still I guess all dogs require pretty much the same. I like that this food doesn't have any atrificial addictives or fillers. I am picky about what foods I feed my dogs. I recently discovered Peddigree, the food he was eating contained wheat gluten. So I had to switch.

I set up my tank on wed, let it run for a day then added my fish (m/f convicts) i added filter media and gravel from a tank that has been running for a good while. Today when i went to turn the heater down the wire felt slimy. Is this just the tank going through the cycle. I know adding stuff from cycled tanks speeds the cycle process up but i didnt think it b this fast. Apart from my fish hiding alot and only eating the food from the bottom when im not near the tank they look healthy

How do you look after an iguana or other reptile. I think they are really nice but want to be smart and find out their needs first and what they eat. Do they bite and can you hold them etc?

I used to own betta fish in water bowls. I loved having them, but I hated changing the water. I would like to own fish again, If I get a good filter, and scrub the side of the tank every week or so, Do I have to change the water? If I do, how many times do I have to do it a week? Thanks............=)

I have one female guppy and about a month ago, she had baby fry. I was only able to rescue 2 of them, as the others were eaten by the other fish in the tank. I put them in a breeding net, but yesterday she had another set of guppies. I rescued 3 of them this time. When I put these in the breeding net, I noticed the other 2 older fry were chasing and biting the tails of the newborn. I'm afraid that the older fry will end up eating/hurting the newborn. Yet if I put the older litter outside the breeding net and into the tank, I'm afraid that they will be eaten by the adult fish. Should I worry about the older litter harming the newborn fry?

Hello there.

I just brought home two young baby male rats about 3 days ago. I've noticed they've been sneezing and I'm not sure if it's okay or not. They don't have any discharge comming out of their eyes, ears, or nose...whatsoever. They're perky and from what I can tell, very happy with their new home. I'm currently using the bedding carefresh...(It was reccommended by a rat breeder). They're not sneezing constantly...but just enough for me to be able to notice. The first night I had them, I used a different bedding. I'm not sure if maybe they got allergies from that particular brand (it looked kinda like hay)...so obviously that's when I changed the bedding and bought the carefresh. Should I be worried?

I adopted a little black kitten from the SPCA last friday. She was vaccinated july 9th and her adoption papers say she's due for her next shot aug 9th. I thought 2nd shots where due 3 weeks after 1st shots? It's been 9 years since we had a kitten, and I'm sure we vaccinated our 9yr old cat every 3 weeks until he was 12 weeks old. Did something change with vets? Or did the SPCA get the papers wrong? Should I get her in for her booster for july 30 or wait another week?

What do you think of rescueing dogs? What I love about rescuing is the concept of before and after. When we got out mixed breed dog Chocolate from the shelter,he only weighed 15 pounds,he was thin, there was a bald patch on his tail,he had fly bites on his ears. The vet even said that the hair on his tail would NEVER grow back. To my delight I proved the vet wrong. He has proggessed so much since the day I got him.He now weighs 30 pounds,he has a glossy curly healthy coat, and his fly bites vanished. He was always seemingly depressed and antisocial when we got him.He was prorbobly owned and abused(since he was automaticly house trained when I got him) Now he can't stop wagging his scruffy little tail. And he smiles too. He smiles with his eyes. And he teases you too. If youd owned him for 3 years youde know he was teasing you. Sometimes I call him and he stands there and stares at me...and he smiles and wags his tail. He is a crack up.

This is one of the reasons why I don't play with my cat sometimes, besides the fact that he's not very playful.

When I play with him he actually tries to eat the toys or at least it really looks like it. I've had this problem for sometime. Like just now, I was play with him with a ball of yarn and he started to chew on the thread once he caught it. I took it from him and the whole thing was covered in spit, and he may have swallowed just a few threads. What am I supposed to do about this/ what are some good alternatives please.

I really like the interactive play where you are the one dragging something and they catch it, so I dont want to get rid of this. Also he never chases a mouse when i throw it.

any suggestions would be helpful thanks.
