I adopted a little black kitten from the SPCA last friday. She was vaccinated july 9th and her adoption papers say she's due for her next shot aug 9th. I thought 2nd shots where due 3 weeks after 1st shots? It's been 9 years since we had a kitten, and I'm sure we vaccinated our 9yr old cat every 3 weeks until he was 12 weeks old. Did something change with vets? Or did the SPCA get the papers wrong? Should I get her in for her booster for july 30 or wait another week?

Repeat every three to four weeks until your kitten is sixteen weeks of age for your FVRCP( distemper, calici virus) and anytime between 12-16 wks for Rabies. If your cat is going outside you should get a leukemia vaccine as soon as possible and repeat in 3-4 wks. Some vets may recommend the AIDS vaccine as well, but there is a large controversary on the vaccine and most vets only use it when the cat is living with another cat who has aids, to make sure your other cat is safe. You may fix your cat anytime after 16 weeks if the SPCA did not already perform an early neuter or spay.

"Dosage and Administration: Inject one 1 mL dose intramuscularly or subcutaneously using aseptic technique. Repeat in 3 to 4 weeks. Annual revaccination with a single dose of vaccine is recommended." - Fort Dodge, on their 3 way kitten immunization.

If you time it perfect the Fort Dodge directions go on to say 2 vacines is OK, but most vets recommend 3 sets of vaccinations.

The time schedule is the same for most vaccines, but the FD is a killed virous safer version.

call your community look after and ask them what they propose. they'd have a software for low value vaccines. Mine informed me some incredibly stable yet much less costly vet. in any different case, basically call around and get costs from countless puppy clinics and evaluate expenses. p.c.. what's nice for you. FYI, $sixty 5 incredibly isn't that undesirable for a vet pass to! In my section, that's unquestionably considered great low-value if she is getting vaccinated. possibly you will desire to reassess protecting a puppy? Sorry, i don't propose to sound preachy--basically smart.

The best person to ask, and the one with the most knowledge, would be your local vet. Get the phone book and give them a call.
