Well, after my Male Betta passed away two monthes ago, I've decided to get 3 female bettas to keep in my 10 gallon tank. Are water surface skimmers good for them? They take out oily, organic film and scum from the surface. And are heaters and filters good? I saw this filter that includes an oxy surface skimmer in a magazine. It seems perfect but I'm not 100% sure... Do you think my betta's would like it? There three-level intake system extracts water from the surface, middle, and bottom for complete aquarium filtration.

And what water conditioner would you recommend for betta's? Would Stress Coat work? If so, can it mix with a product made from Tetra called "Blackwater Extract" or should I just put a little bit of Aquarium salt mixed with Stress Coat?

Has anyone tried Atison's Betta Food?
Or Hikari Betta Bio-Gold?
Any recomendations for PET betta foods? I'm not gonna show them.

I have a cat that looks a bit like a Bombay. Is he part, full, or none Bombay?

And are there any "signs" to tell?

Last two weeks I have noticed that she likes to lay in a sitting position on her basking rock that is partialy submerged in her water pan. She is not laying upside down..her head and top torso is in an upright position against the tank glass and the bottom torso and tail is laying flat on her back....The first time I saw this I was scared that she was hurt/and/or dead...but she wasn't...she likes to sleep that way. She's like that right now and when I get up in the morning she might be in the same position. She is not sick. She scarfs her food, and is fat and sassy...she just sits on her back - which doesn't look comfortable. Does anyone elses lizard relax this way?

My male cat has breast tumors. We just found out at the vets office yesterday. They're running bloodwork to make sure he's healthy enough for surgery to remove the tumors and test for malignancy.
My question is:
Has anyone else out there had a cat undergo this sort of surgery? We are worried about his chances of survival and the quality of the remainder of his life. The vet really couldn't answer for how long he'll have to live, because they don't yet know if the tumors are malignant.
My husband and I are not sure we would want him to go through an agonizing mastectomy surgery when his life may not be extended by much longer anyway.
Does anyone have any insight?
We just want to make sure he has a good quality of life for whatever time he has left.

My dog has had a very strange habit since he was a puppy. He will sit and stare at his feet for hours and look as if hes watching little bugs and every once in awhile he will gnaw and bite at these "bugs".

He absolutely has no fleas... weve checked him over and over and got medicine after medicine... so were trying to figure out what the heck this could be.. its to the point now where he gets sores on his feet due to his biting!

We think it may be an anxiety or nervous habit or perhaps boredom? Its almost like those crazy people who think they have bugs on them!

Anyone dealt with anything like this ever? hes such a little weirdo lol! OBviously if it keeps staying bad im going to take him to the vet...

I am going to start a 65 gallon reef tank with an Ehiem canister filter, a Jager heater, metal halide lighting, still trying to decide what kind of protein skimmer to get, I might get a powerhead or 2 also. I was thinking about adding: 2 common clownfish, 1 royal gramma, 1 orange firefish, 1 yellow tang, 1 orange-spotted goby, 1 coral beauty angelfish, 3 skunk cleaner shrimp, 10 turbo snails, 1 pistol shrimp, 2 blood shrimp, 2 feather dusters, and 1 porcelian crab. I am obviously going to buy all this livestock over time to prevent deaths. I am going to get some corals later so any suggestions would be appreciated. Please tell me if all my livestock listed is compatable. I have done about 2 years worth of reaserch so I think i am ready. Thanks for your time!

My daughter picked out a cat at the shelter months ago & we adopted her. The shelter told us she was the cuddliest cat there, not very active & very loving.. We thought just the cat for us! My daughter was diagnosed with PTSD & we thought a cuddly cat would help her. Well when we brought the kitty home she first stayed hidden for a few days, totally normal. But then she started getting more active. But we didn't mind. But everytime you would go to pet her she would bite you for no reason. not hard, but it still scares you. You can't pick her up or she will howl in protest & if you don't put her down within seconds she goes to thrashing & clawing. I have 2 kids & this doesn't seem like a child friendly cat. I thought maybe we just needed to give her time, but it's been over 4 months & it's getting worse. And another thing she jumps in mine & my husbands bed at night EVERY NIGHT & we try to kick her out, but she jumps back up several times & wakes us up constantly through the night!

My mom's friend found a stray cat that was pregnant, so she adopted it and raised the kittens until they were old enough to give away. She had one kitten left that she needed to find a home for or else it would have to live in a shelter because she couldn't afford another cat, so my mom said we would take it becuase she was going to let me get a cat. Well anyways before that we had gone to a shelter and i had found a cat that i immeditaly fell in love with so we filled out adoption papers for it and now we're waiting for them to call us to let us know if we can adopt him. Well if we can my mom said i would have to give the other cat away to my friend because she doesnt want two cats. Well the thing is i already bonded to the cat that i have to give away if we get the other cat. How can i change my mom's mind about giving away the cat beacuse i can tell she bonded to it too.

These foamy bubbles are at the top of his water and make a messy ring around his bowl. I don't want to use a filter because I've seen betas get caught in them.

I bought 5 glass bloodfins last week. A few days later I got a few cardinals. Last night one of the cardinals had some body fungus on its tail, so I took it out immediately. Just today I noticed that 2 of my bloodfins' mouth was missing. It looked like something bit a hunk of of their face. Is it mouth rot, and how contagious is it? Also, how did I get it--the tank water is clean. It is a 55 gallon tank with about 9 tetras total.

I recently found my dog scratching the dirt in different locations in my back yard and eating the dirt. My other dogs do not do this so I don't feel like there is anything nutritional involved.

I am buying a new vac in the next couple of weeks and have 4 cats and want one that picks up most if not all the cat hair. I am leaning towards the dyson DC14, but would love to hear of any others that do the job.

I just got a new 10 gallon tank and need a heater and filter for it. All I have in it is a Single male Betta (Living large huh?) and snails.

Just need to know the wattage and what kind of filter you guys recommend. Also ideal temperature for the Bettas? Will the temperature effect the snails?

I feed my shih tzu Life's Abundance dog food. He's 7 1/2 months old and he weighs 11 pounds. The reason I am wondering is because right now I feed him twice a day...but he never starts eating right when i feed him so his food sits out for a long time before he eats it...and he doesn't eat the whole amount at once when he does finally eat...

Why do people keep insisting that feeding dogs raw meat will give them a "taste for blood", make them agressive, exaggerate their prey drive, etc?
