I think cats sleep on necks because it is usually (other than the face which will get them moved quickly) the one place that isn't covered by clothing or blankets. It's warm (like a hot water bottle) and it has a nice, rhythmic pulse.

Cats like to cluster together when they sleep, they get comfort from others plus the body heat and everything. I think it starts with the mother and kittens, and generally is something they like so much they do it with other species too.

Sometimes they just want to be near (like on the other end of the couch) and sometimes they HAVE to be right on top of you, but the neck area bothers me because I start to choke so I turn on my side and mine will curl up either under my arm or he'll lay across the top of my head. I caught him doing that with my sig. other once, but the cat started pushing his feet against the headboard and had his back against Steve's head, which slowly pushed my guy's head off the pillow while he was sound asleep. He doesn't do that with me but I have woken up with a sore neck from not being able to move much. So there's upsides and downsides to it.

She is showing her affection for you and wants to be near your scent. They sleep like that with each other too, all in a pile.

I have one who as a kitten, used to clean my makeup off and also enjoyed my hairspray! He doesn't do it any more now that he's older.

I had another one who always wanted to sleep on my head and purred very loudly, making it very difficult to sleep.

That was when we first started putting them in the basement just for the night so we could get some sleep. They have litter boxes, toys, food, water, everything they need down there and they can play or sleep or whatever.

You could try that, if you have a basement or spare room.

Good luck!

My cats do it too, I'm pretty sure its normal. I think that they are just looking for affection, my grandpa is a vet and he told my sister that it may be from the cat bieng taken away from its mother too soon, so they are showing extra affection and bonding with there new family counter-parts because they couldn't with there mothers, they will also bite your toes, and push on you with there paws back and forth like sucking on the mothers nipple, its pretty normal for most cats. Hope I helped!

Because she is comfortable with you and that's probably the "smelliest" place she can find.
One thing I have noticed about all of my cats, they love my head! My youngest even makes a nest out of my hair at night! If any of you are interested in dred locks, you can borrow Jack....

Not all cats like that. My grandmother's cat does that, but mine likes to sleep right on my chest and get their head's pet.

Aww, that's really cute. It means she:
-likes you enough to want to sleep with you
-trusts you enough to sleep with you
-likes your warm neck
- and is VERY loving :D

You should feel very honoured for SUCH a loving cat :)
