My dog has had a very strange habit since he was a puppy. He will sit and stare at his feet for hours and look as if hes watching little bugs and every once in awhile he will gnaw and bite at these "bugs".

He absolutely has no fleas... weve checked him over and over and got medicine after medicine... so were trying to figure out what the heck this could be.. its to the point now where he gets sores on his feet due to his biting!

We think it may be an anxiety or nervous habit or perhaps boredom? Its almost like those crazy people who think they have bugs on them!

Anyone dealt with anything like this ever? hes such a little weirdo lol! OBviously if it keeps staying bad im going to take him to the vet...

Hes half pomerianian/ half chihuhua- im assuming this breed would probably be very suspectible to ocd/anxiety type behavior!

You could take him to a vet or a behaviorist.
How often do you trim his claws? Some dogs will gnaw at them if they get too long.
But it could be boredom/obsession...
Or it could be something to do with his skin...a lot of things...I do suggest getting him checked out, especially since he's been doing it since he was a puppy and is developing sores.

I had the same problem with my Westie-Poo. The Vet said it was more then likely allergies and has put her on a diet of only one protein source that she has never had before. The protein we put her on is venison. For the first 3 weeks while the new food is worked into her diet the vet has given me a spray to put on her feet. She has completely stopped biting her feet for now and after I take her off the spray will see if it was the food she was eating. Ask your vet about it. The food my dog is eating is Royal Canin Venison & Potato.

You should see the vet about a Prozac RX.the thing that I find concerning is the staring at the feet for extended periods of time.A allergy or being board would not cause that kind of behavior. You don't mention the breed or age of the dog.And how long he has been doing this. Some breeds are more apt to have OCD.

does not must be allergies. it truly is a habit additionally and in basic terms sometime the canines does. Benadryl can settle for and if that it truly is an hypersensitive reaction it would quit except it truly is already a behavioral concern. unsure of the dosage of benadryl yet any vet e book ought to tell you. I supply my canines a million/2 a pill and he or she is variety of 15 lbs yet seek for advice from with the e book. additionally the benadryl won't "treatment" the allegery yet make the canines delicate and not itchy. a visit to the vet often is the final theory. Wheat allergies are elementary in some breed of canines (which my canines has).

Allergy is the likely culprit. Get the dog to a vet for medication.
