If she has been outside and she has stopped panting you had better go outside and check that she hasn't delivered one of her puppies already. Take a clean cloth with you just in case. Keep an eye on her now. She has probably been getting her nest ready out there and will want to return to the same spot to have her puppies.

The Gestation period is normally 63 days

The females can pant for 48 hours before whelping but it sounds as if this is pretty imminent. Let your Vet know that she has started and if you have any problems he will be able to talk you through them on the phone.

Good luck.

If she's not been straining, like she has to poop but can't, she's not likely in danger yet. The panting will come and go. If she strains for 1/2 hour without producing a puppy, it is an emergency situation and she needs vet help immediately. Have you kept temperatures?

Restless, panting, nesting in the blankets. Take her temperature with a rectal digital thermometer. The temp usually drops below 100F within 24 hours of whelping. Most dogs have their pups in the middle of the night!

Sounds like she is in labor. I'd say that if nothing happens in a couple hours you might want to call the vet. She might have problems that can't wait until the morning.

This is teh very beginning of labor seh may do this for several hours but shouls have tehnm either tonight or tomorrow.
Check her temperature ( rectaslly) if its about 99-98 seh should deliver within 12-24 hours.
Good luck and congradultions "Grandma or is it Grandpa"

She needs to be vet checked so do not wait any longer. Get her in there tomorrow morning.
