It is illegal to own wild animals as pets in most places. In a few cases people with special permits and license can own wild animals, but with strict regulations of their housing and care. For example, falconers can own raptors for hunting purposes. It is generally unwise and unsafe to own any wild animal as a pet. If there is a wild animal that you are particularily interested in..why not try to protect this animals habitat in the wild so that it can survive on the planet rather than putting your efforts into owning one as a pet.

I used to think otters would be a great pet because they were so cute! but then i learned about endangered animals! most otters are very endangered now and it would be illegal to 'own' one. Even an otter in a zoo would not be fun to watch... it's just not natural to have exhibits showing off endangered animals!
I have many stuffed animals and statues, etc.. of otters and I hope to help them become un-endangered lol
I love the little critters! but I would never own one. I would much rather go into the forest or out on the ocean to see them in their natural habitat!

Im not sure if its legal but Im sure they are probably hard to take care of. I also know that most otters are not too fond of people so they probably wouldnt make a great pet unless your otter somehow warms up to you afterawhile. Otters probably arent the best choice for a pet, even though Id love one too!

Actually, otters are quite aggressive animals! They need a variety of fresh shellfish and urchins to eat, and a huge enclosure with a huge pool for swimming. Enjoy them at the zoo and in the wild. :) And yes, illegal to own without a wildlife rehab permit.

Admire at a distance, allow the otter its freedom, like you would want for yourself.
