Why do people keep insisting that feeding dogs raw meat will give them a "taste for blood", make them agressive, exaggerate their prey drive, etc?

This is one of the biggest myths going about raw food for pets. I have been feeding my dogs and cats this for years, and have never have more happy, healthy and loving pets! I think these people are underknowledged and haven't done their research which equals having nothing to go on but assumption! In other words.....no knowledge = assumption.

That was one of the original ideas that came up and was once the sole reason for feeding raw. It has never been even close to being proven. However, exactly the same can be said for the modern reasons for feeding raw. The idea of it somehow being better then dogfood is not based on fact either but is instead an idea that sounds reasonable so some people then claim it as fact. Every scientific study ever done on this comes to the same conclusion - it is not a good idea to feed a dog raw meat.

Like every other bit of propaganda that's spread.. it gives them an excuse for how THEY choose to feed their pets.

People forget that 100 years ago there was NO KIBBLE. People fed their dogs raw and scraps from their tables. In the arctic people let their dogs scavenge whatever they could find, kill or steal... they sure weren't using fuel to cook dogfood.

I have two large breeds of dogs. They do not hunt because *I* don't let them. They also do not run the streets or breed willy nilly because I don't let them. My Sam's prey drive DECREASED when I started feeding raw rather than kibble... my guess is because she was getting nutrients in a form she could process.

All of the handwringing about feeding raw reminds me of children playing moonlight tag and making themselves hysterical.

I don't know anything about that, but I would want to cook the meat just to make sure that any bacteria has been killed so my pet would not get sick.
