I have a German Shepherd that grew up with cats but HATES my new kitten. My Shep is 6 years old and kitten is 9 weeks. Shep chases that cat behind the fridge and tries to get it. He really seems to not like the cat at all. Any ideas?

One of our cats has been through two courses of antibiotics in the past month, as they had diagnosed her with urinary tract infection.

When that still didn't curb the inappropriate urination (with some blood in it), the vet decided to x-ray & found a kidney stone, today.

We know that very expensive surgery is an option to treat this. What I'd like to know from everyone who answers is whether you've heard of or experienced any other, less expensive but successful, methods of treating kidney stones in cats.

Well, I just bought this chinchilla maybe a week or two ago. He is three months old and is grey. I've had rodents in the past but never had a chinchilla. So, I know the basic care and happiness for these types of animals. But my chinchilla has been here for more than a couple days now and he's still not used to me. He will let me hold him but he bucks and tries to get back in his cage, his safety zone. He barks at me when i try to pet him and he bites me more than he should. He hasn't drawn blood yet but he will one of these days. What should I do? They live so long and I really want him to trust and know I would never do anything to hurt or scare him. How can I get him to understand that? Thanks for any replies in advance. : )

recently had a dog which was a Cocker Spaniel and he had very long hair. Now I begged my parents to get him shaved because it was so hot here, but they said not right now. I told them what could happen and that the dog is over heating and they said to not worry and we'll deal with it later. Last Thursday, my dog passed away of Heatstroke
The same reason i begged them to shave him for
and now I am so mad at my parents. They are in disbelief and I don't know if I will ever forgive them. I don't know what to say to them

I have been buying Loblaw's and President's Chopice canned cat food for years. Lately every time I open a can and put some in my cat's bowl, which is on the kitchen counter to keep the Yorkie out of it, I find teeny, tiny red ants in it. Not one or two, but dozens. I have a feeling there are ant eggs in the cat food cans that hatch when the can is opened and air gets at it. Can this be true? I called the 800 number on the can and they said they had never heard of this problem.

We have a two year old female mini schnauzer and we just brought home from the humane society a one year old male mini schnauzer. Both have been fixed. What can I expect from my female dog? What can I do for the male dog to make things go smooth for them?

My boyfriend and I just bought an albino kit today, he's SOOO cute and his name is Coop. I have a few questions to all ferret owners who can help:

I know that he will never smell good, but my landlord was very kind in not making me pay the $400 pet deposit so I want to know everything I can do to keep the smell to a minimum. So far I have read many different things like, "wash him often or don't wash too often", I don't know, so I need someone with experience to tell me =)

Also my little guy seems to be a bit of a biter, most times it's not bad at all, but sometimes it's hard, and enough to break the skin and bleed, does anyone know how I can make him stop?

what should I use for bedding? The pet store gave me wood sheddings, but I've read on here that they're bad for his skin, Are old towels ok?

Do I need the special ferret litter for his litter box? i would love to use kitty litter just because the ferret litter is pretty expensive...

Could I move easily with him? =)

I found an ill looking kitten in our alley. He looked to only be maybe a couple weeks old, he had flies all around him. I was afraid he was going to die. Needless to say I took him in put him in a shoe box and gave him some warm milk. He drank the milk like crazy, is this a good sign that he's going to be alright? He also has all this gunk around his eyes, I have no clue what it is..my only speculation is that he's just beggining to get his sight? Anyway, where do I go from here..Im not good with cats..I have dogs. Should I try feeding him moist food or just stick to milk? If he ends up being alright I think Im going to let my roomate have him as a pet since he likes cats.

What is the minimum tank size I should be breeding guppies in? I have a 2 gal. tank, and a 10 gal. tank, but the 10's already stocked with some fish. (Can I put guppies in with other fish and expect them to breed?)

Also, do I need any plants for the female guppy to hide in, if the male ever gets aggressive? How should I expect the guppies to behave when I put them together? And when should I expect my first "litter"?
I already have a special box to put the pregnant female in, by the way.

Any tips, suggestions, or comments are appreciated!

My cat sets the bar pretty high, he's only a few months old and can navigate himself around the basement ceiling going from room to room by climbing onto the pipes. Unfortunately, I have to discourage him from doing this because I am afraid he is going to break something.

I have three goldfish in a ten gallon tank. The tank has small rocks, fake plants, and seashells on the bottom. Every night, they will move the rocks off of the piece of plastic that holds the plants down, and put them in the seashells. Then they will push the plants around the tank. They do it every time i change the water. I'm confused. Help please!

We live in a rural suburb of 300 people. There are probably 75 beagles here, 10 goldens, 10+ labs and a few other breeds and mixes, 1 poodle, 10 chihuahuas, a doxie, and a few other dogs here and there. It's farm/hunting country, so most dogs are beagles. My neighbor has 5 Goldens she breeds and takes to nursing homes, schools, fairs, etc. They are nice dogs, that have never shown any aggression that I have heard of. Today, two of them jumped the fence and chased a teen. He was walking with a couple of beagles. He ended up being bitten on the arm twice. Animal control took the male dog and said they will destroy it, and she can't get it back because it is vicious. She did get to keep the female because she didn't get accused of the bites. I cannot believe these dogs would attack. Have any of you ever heard of a golden biting? Or is my suspicion that the kid caused it correct? Can animal control do that even if the dogs had shots? It's a pity because they are nice dogs.
