I have a German Shepherd that grew up with cats but HATES my new kitten. My Shep is 6 years old and kitten is 9 weeks. Shep chases that cat behind the fridge and tries to get it. He really seems to not like the cat at all. Any ideas?

Have you tried slowly introducing them to one another. It may take a while though. That's a big dog.

Do you think the dog is trying to hurt the kitten, or just scare it? If he's just scaring it, it's a lot easier to handle.
Make sure you are giving the dog a lot of attention. Not when he's harassing the kitten of course, but other times. Be extra nice to him when the kitten is around. Try to make him think the kitten is bring him more attention and fun.
It may sound weird, but this works for me: I tell the dog, in a very friendly voice, "Look, we got you a cute little kitten! What a good dog to have a cute kitten! No, don't scare the cute kitten, it's just a kitten, be a good dog and be nice to the kitten...." This way the dog is getting a lot of attention related to the arrival of the kitten, as well as some training regarding the right attitude.
You know, kittens can be pesky, but they grow out of it.
Good luck.

Put your shepard on the leash and let him see the kitten and sniff it a little. Then if he is calmer around the kitten let him off the leash but hold his collar. Same thing if he is calm let him free of your control and watch so he doesnt do anything bad. Hope it works out well =>
