My daughter is 8 and we have a daschund mix (11 weeks) and she won't even walk around while he's near her and never pets him. Earlier she started crying because he folowed her into the kitchen. What do I do?

Ask her why she's afraid of him. Being a daschund, I'd asusme he's fairly loud and snappy? This is probably what she doesn't like. Sit down with her without the dog and talk about how dogs in general behave, and why you think your dog behaves certain ways in certain situations. Get her to tell you what she doesn't like about him. Once the reason for her fear is established, try to find some solutions from that point. You could try getting her to give it a treat, or participate in any of the dog's positive traits (tricks, cuddling, whatever he likes and will respond well to).

Wow, the kid needs more socialization, needs to get out into the world and experience things.. Unless she has had a negative dog experience in the past, she shouldn't be so afraid of such a little wee dog.
Is there someone in her life who might be telling her horror stories about dogs?

show her that he's a good dog and he means no harm. if anything, he will protect her and the family. play with the dog infront of her to show that he's playful and kind. when you take the dog for a walk have her come with you. i hope everything turns out well.

ask her y she is afraid of the dog?
did she get bitten somewhere by another dog and is associating him with the attack/bite?
some people just don't like dogs. which sucks for the dog if they never did anything to be afraid of.
try to involve her with play time /care of the dog and build up the contact level...
