My 5 year old cat that I have had since he was 8 weks, is suffering from renal failure and has been since January of this year. He gets SubQ fluids every other day, but HATES the treatment. He has been hostile with the vet and the techs since day one and I can't say I blame him. Thing is, is that I know he will never get any better than where he's at right now, his levels have finally stabalized. He eats, drinks and plays fine, but is not what he used to be. He was always a very active and playful cat. You can tell he "tries", I think for me, but when you look at him you know he is not feeling well. He can't jump as high as he used to. I'm stuggling with letting him go. I know he will never get "cured" from this, he is stuck with it. My first cat had to be put down from renal failure and I can't bear to go through it again, esp. since he's so young. My other cat has been sleeping close to him like she knows their days together are numbered. I know I need to let him go. Please help.

Most show dog people would like you believe they should be the only people breeding. I have spent quite a bit of time in the Doberman and Boxer show enviroments. Have owned some of the top champion lines. Bred for over 15 years and have placed over 60 puppies to new responsible owners. Ok first a given, we all who know anything, realize your not in business to make money. Any breeder who meets any standard of responsibity will spend much money and many many hours of caring for ***** and pups. Show dogs measure their looks and confirmation. I agree confirmation is important but even that said many people may differ on what think is a good attribute. Judges know little of a particular dogs Intellegence, personality and health back grounds. I have brought this point to several breeders of confirmation champion breeders and all agreed but said it was with other peoples lines. This to me results more in a pretty dog but not necissarily a better dog.

I took her in to a low cost vet to have her spayed 6 days ago. They knew she was feral and even had a hard time controlling her (she is loveable with us only). The stupid doctor put in sutures that are non dissolvable and now she took off two days ago to follow two of her kittens and has not been back. GREAT, the sutures need to be removed! Now what?? She will probably get a major infection that will kill her.

I have 2 1/2 year old male DMH (domestic medium hair). Lately I've noticed some darkening of the fur around his chin and wonder if it is possible for colors and patterns to become added, deleted, or changed on a cat naturally (and spontaneously).

I recently adopted this stray cat, and we play. He doesnt plays with his cat toys, NO! He rathers wrestle me (well my hand) he grabs my hand and bites me(not hard, doesnt even leaves marks) and then he licks my hand. Some other times I am petting him and he turns around to lick my hand. Or some others he just comes and licks my hand for no apparent reason. Why does he do that? I know my dog licks me because she wants to show her affection, but I don't know about cats.

When I get a dog, it seems kind of cruel to leave it inside in a little crate all day....how would it eat or drink? But I don't want the little pup to rip up the house, although if its a small yorkie i dont know if it would do much damage

Should I put it in a room with food and water and kind of fence off the room so it can't run around? Or should I keep it outside? We have a private yard but I'm afraid it might run away or get cold or something...

Where do you put your dog when you're not at home? What works best?

I own an 18-month old Silky Terrier, who is full grown and weighs 5 pounds. My fiance's roomates dog just had 6 puppies, and my fiance has really grown attached to one of the puppies. The mother weighs a little under 30 pounds and we don't know the breed of the father, but at 2 weeks old the puppies look to be already 1.5 pounds or over. I was just wondering if little dogs and big dogs can live together and get along (we'll be moving in together within the next year and a half), and what would be the best way to introduce them to living together?

my mother likes to bring up bad new about pits every chance she gets. I try to remind her that environment & training will have a lot to do with their behavior & any breed of dog can attack. I have a 9 yr old daughter & honestly, I am not afraid my dog will hurt her, ever. How do I respond to these constant attacks?

I have a six month old Beagle and I can’t seem to get her to sleep at night. She has been fine up until the last week or so. She sleeps in my bed and I keep the door closed but recently she has just been crying to get out. I walk/run her every night before we go to bed to try to ware her out. I am not home with her during the day but I play with her a lot when I get home. She has bones and toys to play with on the floor in my room but all she wants to do is get out – she cries and scratches at the door for like 2 hours. I go to bed at 9:30 and she stays up until midnight. She also wakes me up at 4am to eat in the morning. Help!!!!
