my dog has a lump that has come up on the top of his back paw He doesn't seem to be in pain with it (still wants to go walkies, & lets me touch it) but he's at it, (licking, & biting it regularly) at 1 point he made it look pretty sore. I,ve been bathing it etc & its lookng a bit better but its not gone down any & if he gets chance (ie its not covered or i'm not watching, he's at it again) Any ideas what it could be or what i could do? I only want to go vets if i really must as he was ill treated so needs to be muzzeled & pinned down (trust me he's a nightmare at the vets)

My Kitten Cleo has always been a fussy eater since she was young, tried her with wet kitten food when she was younger n she didnt eat as much as i thought she would, so i took her to the vet and they tried her with dry kitten food (Hiil Science Plan) which she has been eating really well since the vet changed it. So all she eats is Hills Science Plan and Whiskers cat milk, she doesnt like Tuna, Fish, Chicken or any kind of meat. Is anyone elses cat like this?? She also drinks plenty for water so is not unhealthy.

or will it be ok with regular cuttlefish for birds and such?

Im asking because ive just saved 2 from the local nursery school about a week ago who were going to kill them so i said id have them but im not sure about the cuttlefish thing i have searched on the net but cant find an answer to this. I got a regular cuttlefish an put it into the tank 2 days ago (i dont think they have had one for the last 3 months) since putting it in they havnt got off it they just sit on it. There not eating much at all (they seamed to eat a fair bit before giving them this) an only then if its close enough for them to reach without getting off it. They are still alive (they dont move as much as they did) they poke there eyes out every now an then an have a look around an shuffle about on it but nothin else. Should i take them off it an remove it or leave them to it?

I have a 4x2x2 foot viv with a ceramic bulb and UV strip light both on for aprox 12 hours a day. Roughly how much electricity (and therefroe money) does this use per day or month.

As an added extra I occasionally use a waterfall in there too with a pump. If you could tell me this amount seperately that would be great.

Any help would be very useful!!! My housemate is trying to blame me for massive electricity bills

My cat use to go outside every day, but since her brother went missing i dont want to let her go out in case she gets killed. but she meows most of the time, i play with her, she has fresh food and water at all times, and her litter box is always clean! so i think its because she wants to go out. But dose anyone know how i can make her happier?
If any one knows of how to make good cat treats at home please share the recipie.
thanks

I know that fish have gravid spots if theyre females and a long anal fin if it's male, but when fry are so, so young I cant see a long anal fin OR a gravid spot. I can start seeing gravid spots at a month old, and even then i see no long anal fins on the males (but I know by then because their siblings already have them) So how can I tell when theyre really little and only a few hours old?

Im a new livestock manager at a local petstore and we just received a Hawaiin Feather Duster and I have no clue how to take care of him. I've read they are easy to take care of. But what im worried about is how do you now if its dead? I cleaned the gravol and everything around it today and it didn't move or anything.

I volunteer and foster for Bengal Rescue and it's kitten season and it just seems there are never enough foster homes! If you would like to foster Bengals, or any other breed, including just "regular cats," I can probably point you in the right direction.
Fostering is very rewarding. There's nothing like going to a kill shelter and "springing" a cat to give it a second chance. It's been a wonderful experience for our whole family. I'm not going to lie and say there are never problems but I haven't had any yet. And of course as a volunteer you get to draw the line whereever you want.

Fostering is also a good idea if you are thinking about adopting but aren't sure. You can see what it's like to actually live with the cat/breed you are interested in without making a committment, and yet you are helping, not adding to the shelter population by giving up an animal that didn't work out. And most rescues will give you "dibs" if you "fall in love" with one and decide to adopt.

She just had almost 30 fry! That is the most I have ever gotten or heard of! How many fry does a guppy usually have. For me it's been 2-12, but 30!?!

I am over whelmed! I have two 10 gallon tanks and now I'm going to have about 48 Guppies in all, plus theyre breeding again! I'm going to get a large tank, possibly 55+ so right now we're searching ebay and the newspaper!

P.S. whats strange about her fry is that it seems some of them are older, or more developed and mature than the others, like a month or a few weeks older, yet they were born at the same time. Can a guppy get MORE pregnant while it is already currently pregnant and then the first batch continue to develop inside their mother the same they would outside?

NO JOKE! She really did have almost 30! I counted 28 while moving them to the nursery, but there's more hiding in the breeding area for adults and guppies starting to sexually mature.

cat food consistent? I am sick of having to return cat food to the store because I purchased a case that was hard, or too mushy, or my cat won't eat it because it's not like the last case they ate...I am sick of wasting my time and the expensive medication that I have to put in their food that eventually gets dumped down the disposal. I have written to these companies, spoken with them on the phone, done everything I can think of, but the madness continues. I am sure that I am not alone on this and it needs to be stopped. As expensive as the healthy food is to buy for our pets, we should insist that the food is consistent each and every time.
