I volunteer and foster for Bengal Rescue and it's kitten season and it just seems there are never enough foster homes! If you would like to foster Bengals, or any other breed, including just "regular cats," I can probably point you in the right direction.
Fostering is very rewarding. There's nothing like going to a kill shelter and "springing" a cat to give it a second chance. It's been a wonderful experience for our whole family. I'm not going to lie and say there are never problems but I haven't had any yet. And of course as a volunteer you get to draw the line whereever you want.

Fostering is also a good idea if you are thinking about adopting but aren't sure. You can see what it's like to actually live with the cat/breed you are interested in without making a committment, and yet you are helping, not adding to the shelter population by giving up an animal that didn't work out. And most rescues will give you "dibs" if you "fall in love" with one and decide to adopt.

Holy Cow! Is anyone in Ohio!? I just heard there are 50 (yes, FIFTY) cats newly in need of rescue there. From what is known they are healthy, adults are friendly, kittens a bit wild. Can ANYBODY help? Our sainted rescue coordinator there needs you! Even if you can only foster short-term, maybe that could buy some time. They are still right now checking laws and seeing if animal control will work with them, but they are going to need HELP!

I don't know the situation. But I know the cats are innocent. If you can help, please do!

Vanessa, I would love to, but I can't contact you through your profile. You can contact me through mine. Would you please send me an email and let me know where you are and how far you are willing to travel? Is your heart set on a kitten? Is purebred versus mix important to you?

Thanks!

Good Job. I just rescued a bunch of ferals. I do not live in your state. Why don't you put a plea for help on Petfinders. Call area cat rescues in nearby states too. I know that many of them can help with transport. Put ads in the paper and write a letter to the Editor of your FREE newspaper asking for help. I hope that you are able to save all of the cats. Good Luck.

I surely have had journey with this! I surely have one grownup Maine Coon Cat of my own, and that i've got additionally been fostering cats and kittens for greater or less 4 years. my own kitty is extremely gentle mannered, and isn't any longer territorial in any respect - he's greater attracted to creating new acquaintances. So he grew to become into surely excited to greet new litters of kittens or a clean cat playmate interior the dwelling house. collectively as he enjoyed their company, he did no longer seem to get too related to them. The longest time i've got had a kitty in foster care grew to become into for greater or less 2-3 months, and this never appeared to be a topic. i might in simple terms get yet another set of kittens or a clean cat in my care a week later, and he could make sort new acquaintances. i think of two-3 months is in simple terms too wanting a term on your cat to truly settle for the fosters as a member of the kinfolk. additionally, attempt to computer screen of the personalities of your cutting-edge cats. my own kitty had instinctual paternal traits, and he looked as though it would get excitement from grooming and snuggling with kittens. no longer all cats could be like this. My suggestion is which you keep your man or woman cats separated from the fosters for some days to a week. enable them to smell out the beginners with the aid of a crack interior the door formerly they meet so as that they do no longer experience intimidated by utilising "intruders" of their kinfolk. After this, you would be waiting to know ways they react to new cats interior the dwelling house. If there seems to be a great form of hostility out of your resident cats, then fostering isn't a solid concept. in the event that they seems great with the addition to the dwelling house, you may desire to be happy with bringing in new fosters in a while.
