Either!
You almost have to base such a decision on an individual dog rather than going on breed generalities.

Remember that breeders that actually use their dogs for their specialized purpose happen to make a selection from puppies to select for features that they find ideal. Dogs - even within specific breeds - don't always act or meet their breed's "standards". Therefore, it's possible that any dog may or may not bee suitable to your lifestyle.

What do you mean by "house pet"?
if house pet means that you simply want a dog at your house that lives with you but you are gone all day long - realistically you should not get a dog (maybe) - Sometimes people can have two fairly independent dogs that are house pets that will do great like this with a few pats on the head in the evening - but more often than not dogs really don't like this sort of existence and become destructive at home. So, you should specify what you mean by "house pet".

In selecting either type....
It really depends upon how much effort you put into being a good dog keeper and assuring a quality life for your house kept dog. That means plentiful daily exercise, good feeding schedule, quality time -grooming pet, yearly vet physical exams....and the usual stuff with all dogs.

Why are you considering these two types of dogs? Are they a preference that you simply admire qualities that each have?

Do remember that either type happens to have been originally bred for a specific purpose and you need to ask yourself if your lifestyle will be suitable for the dog that you choose. To make an effective decision you MUST really seek out actually interacting with REPUTABLE breeders or rescue organizations to answer this question wisely.

Reputable breeders can be found through local dog club organizations or even rescue organizations.
Do not consider simply looking through newspapers or going to petstores - your asking for trouble.

Neapolitan Mastiff. No, they are not like pitbulls. They are actually very protective to outsiders and their family. They are a committed breed of dog. I have two a male and female. Blue brindle and mahogany. I have had both for 3+years. I also have 3 year old and 6 month old daughters. My 3 year old crawls and lies all over them. They are friendly and relaxed, yet protective. The only thing you need to worry about as far as children go is if you get one with a long tail pay attention so they don't knock the child over with their tail or their body. and get a puppy so they can get used to your children their won't be a problem. The problem is that they tolerate pain too well and they are large dogs so people tend to want to fight them with other dogs. This is wrong and should not be done. But for a family who will love them back they can be trusted and I wouldn't have any other animal. They are big, beautiful, protective, and loyal. Also they are committed to the family they are with so if you get one, keep it they do get heart broken and stop eating and die when they are separated from their family. My male sits at the gate when we leave and when we come home he will cry until he is acknowledge. Also, they snore very loudly. Read up on them you will more than likely be impressed. People tend to speculate when they don't know for sure.

depends on what you want out of your dog as a house pet. Both breeds do well indoors. So its just a matter of what breed you like best. :) I have an APBT and she is a wonderful house dog but my friend has a Boxer and he is a great house dog as well. so I think your safe with either one. :)

you really need to put up a lot more information as to what you're looking for, waht other canine/feline/human members you currently have in your household and what your plans are for this dog. There's way too many variables in your question to answer it correctly

Either. Both are smart - unfortunately bith are stubborn also. They are similar in size and both must be kept as indoor pets due to respiratory issues associated with extreme temperatures.
