I've had this betta for a little over 5 weeks now. He's healthy, builds bubble nests, loves to eat, all that good betta stuff. Although I've noticed that he's been jumping out of the water lately. (He's in a covered 3 gallon tank.) I was just wondering if this is normal behavior.

I have a young Lady Gouldian Finch who began twitching and acting strangely. I seperated him from the other birds and put him under a lamp for a day, and he seems better, but the twitching continues. What should I do?

I have 2 cats and can't feed them separately. I try playing with the older one (4 1/2 yrs.)but she's not all that interested. The young cat (3 yrs.) is very active and her weight is fine. Do you have any ideas on how to get her interested in moving around? She doesn't eat a lot. Please help.

the dead cats have been found out back completely torn up (i hate to say that-) and the only idea that we have is that darn racoon!
any ideas to help keep the other cats safe?
btw- animal control told us to catch it and bring it in.....why can't they catch it??? no help at all.

One has lived in our backyard for 12 years. The backyard is a virtual paradise of shrubs, flowers in full bloom, shade all along the wooden fence line. The turtle is solid brown, not spotted brown. It has a few yellow spots around the mouth, but none on its front legs. It is larger than a man's fist by about 1/2 again. In 2005 a super heat wave hit and the turtle disappeared. This year in the spring it appeared again, apparently none the worse for having hid out through two summers and winters. It eats snails, bugs, earthworms. We offer eggs, apples, plumbs, wet dog food. Every morning it walks up to our back door and stares at us on the inside. That's when we freshen the bath water and take out some food. It quickly takes its bath, sometimes eats a tiny amount of the food, sometimes ignores it. It is friendly, listens to us talk, and allows us to stroke its chin.

Yesterday my daughter nearly ran over a box turtle in our front driveway. It wasn't ours. It is smaller, with lots of yellow spots around the mouth and all over the front legs. It looks like photos I've seen on the net.

What's the risk of this new turtle in the backyard, and why is our turtle brown-shelled all over, with no yellow dots like this new one?

I have a 3 year old pomeranian, and I must say he is a real menace lately. He goes to the bathroom in the basement when he is alone and barks when he doesn't get to come up. People say that this is because he doesn't like being down there alone and wants to come join the rest of the family. It is a finished basement so it's not like we lock the dog down in a dirty basement. We go down there all the time but when we come up, he barks. Any advice on how to train him to stop barking and peeing everywhere. We've tried letting him up but he still pees on the carpets and goes into the trashcan and rips stuff up. He really is a menace. We want to try everything we can without getting rid of him.

I have a moustache parakeet that came from another home. When I got him the only feathers he had was on his wings and head and a few tail feathers. He had plucked his self. They are coming back in now but they are coming in slow. How long does it take for them to come back in?

My dog has all the usual tricks to draw my attention to his needs.

He paws the door for 'walkies'
He rattles his dish for food/water
He brings a ball for play

But recently he has developed a really cheeky way of getting my response. When he has tried the above methods and they've failed to rouse me, he gets a "squeaking toy" and makes a continuous cacophony until I have to give him my full attention or suffer a headache.

Does your dog have any advanced communication methods?

I have a 3 month old puppy and she is a digger big time. I have tried putting her poop in the places she digs but she will just move a few inches from the poop and dig a new hole. My yard is starting to look like a mine field. I am thinking about using cayenne pepper to solve the problem however I don't want it to hurt her. So I am wondering if this is too mean to use?

yet horse people ride their horses down the sidewalk and their horses walk and poop at the same time so they leave huge piles of crap and then the people don't have to clean it up!?

This female never has a convulsion when she is in the yard and or house. but when let out she goes into a seizure, lays down, stiffens out, foams at the mouth for approximately 3 min,s and returns as herself. It only happens when she is turned out or I have to take her somewhere. No pranksters, I love this dog.

Ok my cats got all their shots and spayed yesterday and the oldest one is fine.

When i brought them home the baby wouldnt even get out of the kennel i took the top off and the door but i was like she couldnt get up to walk around ... i thought/think it was cuz of the drugs im pretty sure she just slept all night and not today she seems really spaced out and just kinda aimlessly walks around ... right now she walked over to the food dish and hasnt moved for 10-15 mins ... she is just sitting there looking at the wall she doesnt respond to my voice and she just doesnt want to be near me or my other cat ( when usually i cant get her away). She wont sleep and she wont touch her food. but she is have mine. Is this all Normal or should i take her back to the vet?!

Thanks for your help.
