My dog has all the usual tricks to draw my attention to his needs.

He paws the door for 'walkies'
He rattles his dish for food/water
He brings a ball for play

But recently he has developed a really cheeky way of getting my response. When he has tried the above methods and they've failed to rouse me, he gets a "squeaking toy" and makes a continuous cacophony until I have to give him my full attention or suffer a headache.

Does your dog have any advanced communication methods?

My one dog will SCREAM at the top of his lungs if he thinks he is being treated unfairly. For example, I always make him ride in his plastic travel crate when we go in the car. He thinks he should get to sit up front on my lap so he screams and rattles the cage. He knows I can't get him when I am driving so he takes full advantage of the opportunity.

Yes I have 2 Golden's and one will sit and stare at me and make huffing noises like small barks and the other will put his head right on my lap until I recognize him and tend to what he wants. LOL

Besides all the behavior you have listed, my shih tzu will pull her nails across the top of my foot or grab onto the back of my jeans if I'm walking away. Teach us to try to do something that doesn't involve them!

No, my dogs do not demand my attention, rather they come running for it when I call them. Who is the leader of your pack? You or your dog? Sounds like your dog, he gets what he wants
