Ok my cats got all their shots and spayed yesterday and the oldest one is fine.

When i brought them home the baby wouldnt even get out of the kennel i took the top off and the door but i was like she couldnt get up to walk around ... i thought/think it was cuz of the drugs im pretty sure she just slept all night and not today she seems really spaced out and just kinda aimlessly walks around ... right now she walked over to the food dish and hasnt moved for 10-15 mins ... she is just sitting there looking at the wall she doesnt respond to my voice and she just doesnt want to be near me or my other cat ( when usually i cant get her away). She wont sleep and she wont touch her food. but she is have mine. Is this all Normal or should i take her back to the vet?!

Thanks for your help.

How old is she? Perhaps she was too young to spay. In many places they are really risking a spay too young and putting animals in danger for needless reasons. Dogs shouldn't be spayed until they are at least 5mo old. Our vet always said cats should be at least 4 mo old or more.

I don't know a lot about cats, but if it were a dog, I would say they gave her too much anesthesia or that she was deprived on oxygen too long in the surgery. It should wear off eventually. You could call the vet and ask.

What you are describing is an abnormal reaction to anesthesia. The drugs used today in veterinary medicine are used because they are short acting and have consistent outcomes.
It isn't always recommended to have a cat vaccinated at the time of surgery since a immune response combined with pain can be too much for a cat to handle.
The fact that your cat is not eating is worrisome since cats cannot fast for long periods of time without causing damage to the liver..
Your vet should be willing to help you in anyway since they preformed the surgery. They also should be proactive in making sure the cat has a quick recovery if not take your cat to another vet asap.
Good luck

Watch her another couple of hours and if it continues, call the vet. This happened to our cat when we brought her home and it ended up being the vaccination they gave her. She had a bad reaction to it. Also, our cat does not deal with medicine well at all. To be safe....call the vet. Good luck. :)

She'll be fine in a few days.Try to only give her 1/2 of the dose of pain meds if any. It's part the surgery experience and being away from home and every thing and every one smells different.Let her relax and she'll settle down again. If you notice her not eating/drinking using the potty acting weak etc. call the vet.

If it's a young cat, she may take a couple of days to fully recover from the anesthesia (it took my kitten 3 days to be back to normal after she got spayed). If you're worried though, I would call your vet and see what they say.

A similar thing happened to my cat after she was spayed, she had a reaction to the anaesthetic, she recovered but it took time. I would contact the vet to be on the safe side. Its better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.

take her back to the vet and have her checked out. she could be having a bad reaction to the anesthetic.

it does sound normal, but give the vet a call anyway just to make sure.
