I have a young Lady Gouldian Finch who began twitching and acting strangely. I seperated him from the other birds and put him under a lamp for a day, and he seems better, but the twitching continues. What should I do?

Keep him under the light. I have heard of male Lady Gouldians being weak genetically.

Have the birds been in touch with anything toxic?

Is he eating and drinking? Alert and oriented? Does his poopy look normal? These are all things you want to take notice of.

You didn't say how young...is he breeding age? has he got full color yet? is it possible he's being aggressive or flirtatious with others? it is breeding season, they bob their heads and swish/twitch their tails.

You did not mention any other symptoms such as lethargy, diarrhea or wasting. Have you looked at his breast bone to see if he is eating well? Is he spending all his time in the food dish?

I need more details to go on...

Just a word of caution,if you have birds do not cook in teflon pans or spray scotch guard in the house. It is a toxin, and is released if a pan is overheated or if it is sprayed anywhere in a house with a bird, it will kill it. I don't know if this applies or not, but I thought it was good info to pass on.

Catch it, give it ketose syrup/ a tiny bit with water in it, or some pedilite in a bottle cap. I think it's called ketose, not sure. So do the pedilite thing.
It has electrolites, and will make it alert.
I've been raising parrots for years and years. And Dogs.
Do this and it should work and give it energy.

take him to the vet. if it's alot of wing twitching and toe tapping it's b/c of a vitammin deficincey. I would have the vet run tests just to make sure.
