Hello, my cat is around 10 months old and she got pregnant out of the blue, we didn't intent for her to get pregnant, she was due to get spayed but due to ill health in the family it was totally forgotten about. We think she is in her last week, we can feel the kittens kicking quite often and she eating alot, colostrum is also visible on her nipples, also her stomach has hardened alot in the past few days. Seems like we have been waiting ages, does anybody know if she is close to her labour or does she still have time to go. Thanks.

I just asked a question about my 3y.o. male and 2 m.o. female cats, who are play-fighting or just fighting. At first it looked like they were playing rough, when the kitten disturbed the older one. Instead of getting better, now the big male cat attacks her even if she is not bothering him. He pounces and puts her down and bites her really hard, he doesn't pierce her skin ut it looks like he will suffocate her or break her neck. What do you think, is there a chance they will get along?

She keeps throwing up; I thought nothing of it until this morning, but she meowed like she was in pain before she threw up, and she's never been sick this much before. Also, I just noticed this morning that her ears have got less fur on them than they did before, and she came in this morning with a little sore on her side, as if she'd been attacked by something, although it wasn't serious. However, she hasn't been out since yesterday afternoon; it is possible that I just didn't notice it, but I'm not sure. She is getting old - she's 11 now - but it's happened all of a sudden and she's always been healthy before.

Any help will be gratefully received
Thanks, Soph.

My 11 1/2 yr old blk. lab back legs gave way. He was on Rimadyl for his Arthritis for mostly his front legs. He does not seem to be in pain but can't move with out help.

I been told by the Vet, I should consider putting him down because the way he is there no quality of life, the Vet has said this is in his spine which is making his back legs not function, but he seems not to be in pain.

I don't think a dog-cart (wheelchair) is the answer for him since his front legs are really not that strong they support him but he has Arthritis in those too.

I help him to do his business he lyes mostly in the same place all day until i take him out.

Any suggestions?

.. I had an empty tank for 2 weeks and have had 4 platys in for 5 days now, and they are doing really well - I've done two water tests, and all results the same as before I added the fish.

I have two questions... I'm planning a 10% water change and gravel clean on Wednesday - but do I also wipe down the inside of the glass?? I want to get an Oto catfish eventually, so do I leave what's on the glass for when he arrives? Or do you have to clean the glass every time you do a water cfhange, catfish or not??

Also, for my next fish I want to get one male Betta - how long before I can get him? Do I have to now wait until my tank has cycled, or can I get him within the next week??

Number of cats and dogs entering shelters each year:
6-8 million (HSUS estimate)
Number of cats and dogs euthanized by shelters each year:
3-4 million (HSUS estimate)
Percentage of dogs in shelters who are purebred:
25% (HSUS estimate)

Knowing that 3-4 MILLION cats/dogs are euthanized by shelters each year, breeders, how can you justify purposely bringing more animals into the world? People who buy from breeders, how can you justify financially SUPPORTING people who contribute to the overcrowding of shelters and the euthanization of perfectly healthy, well mannered animals?

I just got a kitten last week and I've been giving it immitation kitten milk. I put the milk in this turkey baster-type thing and he drinks from it like a bottle. It's about six weeks old so it is old enough to drink water from a dish, but it will just sniff the water and leave it alone. Why won't he drink the water? Should I just leave water for the cat to drink and when he gets thirsty enough he'll eventually drink it?

Hello, I've asked before, but I need help again. I have a 3 year neutered male cat, Oliver. He is a really rough cat. He bites hard, even people. My parents are afraid of him! I recently rescued a 2 month old female kitty from the street, Penny. I keep them apart, because i thought Oliver would kill her. Gradually I started introducing them. To my surprise, they didn't hiss etc., but they started "playing". The problem is Penny disturbs Oliver, by playing with his tail. Then Oliver gets angry and grabs her and bites her hard and kicks her with his back legs until I save her. This is getting worse and worse. Now he chases her, like he chases his toys, and grabs her to bite her. And stupid little Penny just loves him and goes back for more, but he really hurts her when he gets rough and I save her every time. So, the question is, will they get along or will Oliver kill her? Because I think he is playing, but he gets rougher all the time and it looks as if he's playing with a mouse!

We adopted a cat. We have hardly seen her for months as she now sleeps all day under my bed, and most nights too. We adopted another cat that gets along with her and our dog but she is now fatter (despite being on a strict diet by a vet of 1 cup food a day & she weighs 33 lbs!), snores a bit, always has a horrible feminine body odor --- like she is in constant heat---(she is fixed though), is now also suddenly marking all over the house (because, as the Vet says, sheis asserting her dominance to other animals with her scent --- however, Vet says will stop if only pet though). She also gives "love bites" or licks when happy. I cannot take her back to shelter where adopted as they said they would give her 3 days then kill her, but every time I find her a new home the people she goes to live with as her new family brings her back because of her smell. I do not want her killed at a shelter but she is making my family miserable. She is 6 yrs, declawed lapcat w/shots, friendly. Advice?

My Dog pees on herself. When I take her out to walk, she sits a little, lets her pee go and then gets up as she is peeing, she walks while she pees and I can see it hitting the back of her legs....
It is really quite disgusting, and I am getting tired of washing her everytime I finish walking her.
Are all female dogs like this? Pee on themselves? Or just this one? how can I stop her from peeing on herself in the furture?
What is wrong with her?
Please Help!

My cat is pregnant and I don't know how long she's been pregnant. She is an indoor/outdoor cat so I don't see her very much until night time. So I really have no idea when she got pregnant. Sometimes she'll disappear for a couple days. I noticed she was getting really fat like 2 weeks ago, and last night she hopped up on my lap and I felt her belly and the babies were moving around. I could feel them pushing or kicking against the walls of her belly. How long do you think it will be?

yet another incident, this time in Ireland of a child mauled by rottweilers. All I ever see on Y/A are people going on about how great pets are, yet we continually see "pets" attacking our children and animal lovers say nothing. Do you guys think this is acceptable?

I bought a pot of cat grass from a pet shop for my cat. I set the pot near the window, in a shaded area, and give it plenty of water, but within two weeks, the plant died on me. I bought a second plant and am treating it well, I think, but a week after purchasing the thing, it threatens to die on me too.
What am I doing wrong? Is there any trick to keeping cat
grass?

We had a male betta for months so when we got a large aquarium I bought alot of new fish (guppies, a female betta, ghost shrimps, little frogs, & a sucker fish --- 28 total). Right away, after puting the fish together, some got body fungus and half died within 1 day. I treated the tank for 5 days for body fungus, gill disease, mouth & tail rot disease, and popeye disease... it was not the cheapest stuff. Within a day of body fungus clear-up my fish got gill disease. How? I have no idea since they showed no signs before and I used a combo treatment that covered it too. My tank has been continued on treatment now almost 10 days and still more fish dying (I have flushed 11 in days)! Right now it is still gill disease (red, swollen gills, listless fish, & trouble breathing). If I stop treatment just 1 day more die, if not then no change in health. What do I do? Water sample taken to petsmart said water o.k. & treatment should of worked. I have done as directed on treatment box.

My light on my fish tank just turns off by itself I can turn it back on but it's a pain in the but. Do I just need to replace the bulb or do I need to replace the whole hood? I would assume that if it's the bulb it would just go out and not turn on again but I don't know if fluorescent tube lights are different. Thank you for your help.

When I first got her it was the dead of winter and she couldn't take the cold. I enjoy the outdoors (walk, jog, bike) and would like for her to join me to keep me company but she is constantly chasing and barking at everyone or thing that comes past along with pulling on me. I don't want to hurt her or let her get hurt by another dog or person on a bike. Please help.

I have a 10 gallon tank with a calico fantail, a golden fantail, a small algae eater, another fantail, and a guppy. When I first bought my golden fantail about 3 months ago, s/he was big, but as the days have gone on, s/he has gotten much bigger...and I don't mean lengthwise. I mean fatter. The calico has also begun to become rather large. Is this normal? They eat and swim like usual, so there's no change in behavior. Also, on the back of the golden fantail near its tail, there seems to be a little red spot under his/her scales...almost like a bruise on a human. Any advice or help would be appreciated!
