I am about to get a new kitten, and am worried about any problems, as the last kitten I had passed away, due to back background, he'd also had fleas which led to anemia. I am worried about the same thing happening again, does anyone have a checklist of things to look for? Many thanks for your help :o)

We adopted a very sweet and HUGE dog yesterday. He is 6 years old and a mix of Golden Retreiver, Lab, and Chow. He weighs about 120 lbs. or better and is the sweetest dog I have ever met in my life. I love him dearly already but we are having a problem with him eating. He absolutely refuses to eat! I am worried about him. I have adopted animals before and never had this problem. I'm not sure what to do. I have tried different types of food, including the food he is used to and pieces of hot dog. Nothing. He's acting normal otherwise just refusing to eat. What can I do? I know this is a hard adjustment for him as he is used to his old owner - we adopted him from a lady who could no longer care for him and was facing taking him to the shelter - but the last thing that I want is him ending up sick from not eating. How do I coax him to eat? He has to be hungry! Here's a picture of him with me and my son - blurred faces for privacy. Thanks for any suggestions and serious answers only please

If money was no object what type of sonic (or other) device could I buy that will work to stop my neighbor's dog from barking all day? The dogs are 2 houses away so I need a device with a long range. Thanks.

Hi everybody!

I just got a lovebird, male yesterday. If you know anyinformation or websites that can help me please let me know. I was told at the breeders that the males are easier and quicker to tame...things like that. He is a peach faced lovebird.and very gorgeous!

If you are a breeder, or have experience with lovebirds, feel free to email me any information that I may find usefull to help my new friend Paulie! Thanks!

My cat is around 4 years old, male, neutered, and very wild. He hates to be inside except to eat and sleep. We used to keep a window open for him so he could come-and-go as he pleased, but we have to keep him in at night now because he wakes people up by fighting with other cats. When he is outside, he is usually in the neighbours yard, instigating fights with they're male cat; and when their cat is inside, they both sit on opposite sides of the window and growl at eachother. My boyfriend wants to give our kitty away because he is just tired of dealing with him. We've tired physically removing him from the other yard and bringing him inside, spraying him with water, etc. But he just doesn't seem to learn not to do it. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to get rid of my cat..

I've been searching for a new puppy and finally found one at Deja Vu Kennels. I'm so scared though of getting a sick puppy; my last dog came from a seemingly reputable breeder and was sick her whole life.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this breeder?
Can anyone who is more of an expert on breeders check out their web site for me?
Thanks a bunch to any replies.

I have a small ten gallon tank with a convict. There is a good filter on the tank and she has always been a very healthy fish. But I noticed at the pet store, every tank had an oxygen tube in it. Should I definitely get one of these or can she survive without it?

I believe she is sick because she ate "human food" that my daughter "accidentaly" dropped on the floor, but she has been sick going on 5 days. I really don't want to encurr an outragiously high vet bill if I can take care if her at home. Of course I will take her if she doesn't get any better.

My cat was in my room sleeping for a while, then she started banging on the door like she normally does when she wants let out. She came running out of my room, came downstairs, and acted like she could barely walk. My mom put ran her over to the litter box thinking she just had to go really bad. Then my cat threw up. Why would she do this? She seems better now, and is walking normally. She hasn't thrown up any more. What is wrong with her?

I've learned that different breeds take on different behaviors. How about mixed breeds? Once a I had a retriever/chow-chow mixed in with others (Hienz-57 of a dog) he loved us (owners) but like a Chow hated strangers and was very protective. Yet he was pretty friendly around puppies, kittens, and other small animals. I wonder is mixed breeds can adapt also to any envirmoent and up-bringing.Unlike some pure breeds

I was out on friday night. When I came back I found that my cat lost a claw nail (with root), and some of the other claws don't look good. The other cat doesn't have any marks on it to show it was a fight. I'm scared and upset. I'm taking it to the vet. Will the vet be able to see if it's been hurt, why the claw came out (bleeding has stopped), and any be able to tell me of any other hurt he may be suffering? :(

She started bumping into stuff and would not jump up into the car. What would cause this in such a young dog?he has had all her shots and gets plenty of good quality food to eat HELP! I love her to death, she is mu FUR CHILD! No I have not taken her to the vet yet, she's not in any pain that I can tell.

I have a storage area out back with a shingled roof on it. It is constantly being covered with cat poop. These are just neighborhood cats roaming free at night. I have seen a raccoon and possum around so they may be contributing. How do I keep them off this roof. The smell becomes pretty bad obviously. I was thinking barb wire or something like that. Any ideas??

ok, well the past 2 days my dog has gotten into EVERYTHING and eatin like a goat. on saturday night, i had some buffalo wings, i left them in the cardboard box, and he ate the chicken wing bones. then that same night, my mom was doing laundry and she left my clothes foldeded on my bed, well them my dog jumped up and snached my expensive underwear, and ate them. THEN just this morning, i heard that he was chewing on something, so i looked and somehow, he got to my bra (no it wasnt on me, i had another one on)anywho, he ate some of the underwire and a srap, and im really hoping that it doesnt hurt him. im thinking he's just bored, but i leave toys for him to bite and chew on when he's in my room in the mornings, while im still sleeping. what can i do for him to STOP this. i found him in October and he was doing good, but now he's starting this back up again. he's about 2 to 3 yrs old. please help me i dont know what to do, but i get SO ANGRY with him. PLEASE HELP ME!! THANKS, GOD BLESS!

I recently acquired a new kitten approximately 2 months ago. Over the past month my old kitty (about 6 yrs) began urinating and defecting all over the house. I've had to isolate him to one room when I'm not home, and he continues to defecate all over that room as well. I know the new kitty is probably the issue, but does anyone know how I can get him to stop?!?!?

She is about 8 years old, spayed, has been living as an indoor cat for a year after being indoor/outdoor for most of her life. Eats dry food, uses a litter box. Overweight from the lack of indoor exercise. We were thinking (and hoping against) a UTI, wanted to know if there were any other, more home-treatable possibilities.

We have had a Red Devil Cichlid for about 8 years. He is such a cool fish. We get so much enjoyment out of him! He is quite social, and very entertaining. :) When we got him he was only about 2 inches long.....he is now about 9 inches. How long can we expect to have him....how long do they generally live?
