I was out on friday night. When I came back I found that my cat lost a claw nail (with root), and some of the other claws don't look good. The other cat doesn't have any marks on it to show it was a fight. I'm scared and upset. I'm taking it to the vet. Will the vet be able to see if it's been hurt, why the claw came out (bleeding has stopped), and any be able to tell me of any other hurt he may be suffering? :(

The top thing you need to do is give the vet a real visual timeline of what happened

etc. Sat. at 6:30 PM I left for a party and at 11:15 PM I got back and saw that my cats claw...

Did you post this question twice?

If this cat has been bleeding or has an open wound,
TAKE THE CAT TO THE VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY!!!

Cats who have nail or "claw" problems can quickly develop infections and secondary infections, even so badly that they can die. Remember, they dig in a litter pan or dirt where many kinds of germs and bacteria reside. Getting this stuff into an open wound is only asking for trouble.

If the cat just lost a nail. No worry. This happens all the time.

But if kitty is bleeding or has been bleeding from a nail or claw area, or has an open wound, get him or her to the vet ASAP.

Root? do you mean the toe? Sounds like he got caught into something. If you are going to the vet, they will do a full work up on him and they will discover all thats wrong with him. Sometimes when a cat is sharpening claws they will get a ragged claw caught in the matter they are scratching. IT freaks the cat and they end up twisting and going bonkers. They can pull a full claw out, twist off a toe, and they will sometimes in this case break a foot to get out of the predicament. Toes and claws are FULL of blood vessels and bleed terribly when injured. mainly cause bleeding will help not allow bacteria and dirt to enter the wound, and fully clot the wound with lots of blood, cause they are feet and the primary contact with dirty ground. He will heal, and maybe not have a claw on that toe but none the less cats are hardy. Let the vet figure out all the other injuries.

Was your cat outside when this happened? If so it was probably attacked by a dog. The cat needs to see a vet ASAP.

it does need to see the vet, the vet may pull the other nails out, depends on if they are able to save them or not, but it may need to be put on antibiotics to fight infection
